Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks are fairly popular but for some reason I hadn’t tried them. So I picked up this yummy looking trio pack ‘Les Nudes Velvet – Kiss Stories in Paris’. Today, let’s talk about one of the shades from the pack – 10 Don’t Pink of It.

My Experience with Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick 10 Don’t Pink of It:
Bourjois has some very good products in the market. Their foundation and lipsticks are quite nice. I picked up this trio “Les Nudes Velvet – Kiss Stories in Paris” because I wanted some nude shades in my collection. All three shades in this trio look peachy-pink and not brown nude.
Can we take a minute to admire the lovely packaging of the trio? The cardboard box is baby pink in color and has a fuchsia pink satin ribbon on the side. The whole box looked so tempting and fancy that I couldn’t resist, really. There are 3 normal sized lipsticks in the box; these are shades – 07, 09 and 10. The lipstick comes in a see-through square-ish tube with a plastic cap.
The caps are colour coded which really helps in identification of the shade. Also, the shade name is put as a sticker – and not printed – below the tube. While the sticker comes off easily, it then becomes difficult to identify the shade name especially if you have a lot of them.
The packaging seems quite sturdy. The plastic cap closes tight and the lipstick tube is quite compact. Compared to other liquid lipsticks, at first this tube seems like a mini version but it actually is their full-size lipstick. They don’t have sizes in this range. Overall, the lipstick seems quite cute and travel-friendly.
The shade Don’t Pink of It is actually a proper light pink shade with no hints of mauve or brown as such. It’s a proper matte pink shade. The texture seems less of a liquid and more of a cream. It is extremely smooth and glides well on the lips like butter. The lipstick sets on the lips giving it a very natural look indeed.
It does not dry out on the lips and the lipstick actually feels like velvet and super smooth. The feel of the lipstick after application feels unique as compared to other long stay liquid lipsticks and this part about it is quite impressive. This particular shade does not hide the lip pigmentation. I put multiple coats on the darker/pigmented patches on my lips yet not very happy with the coverage.
I feel, owing to its creamy texture, this lipstick needs precision during application. I can’t just glide this on randomly on my lips without a mirror and get going. It needs to be spread well and evenly with the wand. The wand is a regular one however it has a nice curved shape which makes it easy to apply the lipstick.
What surprised me was the staying power. Doesn’t this lipstick claim to stay as long 24 hours? And without the need of re-application? Oh, come on! Mine would come off much earlier and get rubbed off with a normal swipe. It surely does need re-application after about 4 to 5 hours.
It’s a proper pink shade which will suit well on fairer skin tones. This won’t go well with medium to dark skin tones actually. This shade will go well for day looks and maybe evening/party wear too if you want pinkish nude lips.

• Not as long-lasting as it claims
• Shade won’t suit medium to dark skin tones
• This particular shade does not hide lip pigmentation

Will I Repurchase Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick 10 Don’t Pink of It?
No, this colour did not suit me. I would like to try a different color since they have many color variants in this range.
