Braun Face 810 – Mini Epilator and Cleansing Brush Review

Product Purchased by IMBB

We all know that ladies are the best at scrutinizing from head to toe, including all those little hairs on our face 😛 . And hey why not, there is just (almost) no excuse for hair to be on a woman’s face (other than eyebrows 😛 ). So to avoid the hassle that comes with those trips to the parlor and also waiting for your hair to be long enough for threading/tweezing/waxing; I got this, the “World’s 1st facial epilator and cleansing brush”. Yes that’s right, in no time ‘bam’ and the hair is gone and ‘bam’ your skin is ultra clean; all with the swipe of this ‘magic wand’. So let me tell you all about this beauty and just how good it has been to me.

My Experience with Braun Face 810 – Mini Epilator and Cleansing Brush:

Appearance:

This looks so sleek that if you didn’t know what it was you’d be so intrigued to ask. You can say it almost resembles an electric tooth brush. It is slightly weighted, but feels quite comfortable in the hand. The brush adaptor has a button on the back, which pops the brush head out for replacement when needed (Braun recommends to change this after every 3 months).

The facial epilator’s ‘tweezers’ mechanism is different to that of a body epilator. The major difference is that the ‘tweezers’ of the body epilator are of steel and are in larger scale. In comparison the facial epilator’s ‘tweezers’ are of plastic and are much smaller in scale. In addition, the body epilator’s ‘tweezers’ rotate vertically, whereby the facial ‘tweezers’ rotate horizontally.

How to use it:

This takes one AA battery that you insert at the end of the device, by opening it with a coin. I have used this for three individual sessions and the battery seems to be charged well enough. I think this is a great idea compared to corded or base charging devices. If you would maybe like to travel with this you don’t have to worry about the differences in wattage and having to remember to carry a travel adopter. If you need another battery, you can quiet likely find a AA battery where ever you may travel to.

At first I thought you had to twist to remove the attachment. However on reading the instructions 😛 , it requires a small pull to take it off, and a push to fit the attachment back into place. There is a switch which you can push left and right that changes the rotation of the head. This is so you can pick up the hair easily according to the direction it grows in.

Epilator:

I epilate across my forehead, above the brows, between the brows, upper lip and near my side burns. You can also use this on your chin (though I don’t have hair there, so I didn’t need to). I like to cover my eye brow and hair line while manoeuvring the epilator so I don’t accidently catch hair that I would like to stay. For places like above the lip where the skin is on the looser side, you need to stretch the skin taunt either inside with your tongue (like threading) or with your fingers so that the epilator can catch the hair cleanly with ease.

The epilator does pick the hairs from the root very well, but I did have to take 2 sessions to remove all the unnecessary facial hair. Firstly, because I needed to get over the pain (it is not too horrible, but I needed the break). And secondly, because I have so much baby hair across my face (I didn’t even realize until looking at the fallen hair that had been removed and also on closer inspection in a magnifying mirror… yikes), it takes some time due to the epilator being on the smaller side. But it’s also small for a good reason so that you can get into the small areas, such as between the eye brows comfortably.

Overall, I found the pain bearable, but it was a little more so on the side of my temples. I’m not too sure why, maybe because the hairs were a little longer there. Another drawback is that I only wear glasses and it becomes an obstruction at times. But I can manage with that, since for me the pros out way the cons.

Cleanser:

I have never used anything similar to this before, though I have heard of the acclaimed “Clarisonic’ and general pore brushes. The bristles are very soft to the touch. I have tried this with a face wash gel, but this can be used with a number of cleansing products, for example any type of face wash or cleansing milk. I did use this in the shower without any problems.

To begin I placed the brush head in water to moisten it, and then added the face wash on the brush before going ahead on my face. It vibrates a lot and makes me believe that it also massages my face. Another thing I noticed was while I moved it across my face I did feel a little discomfort. But I soon realized I had to be light handed and that I should make slow movements with it. Though I felt I didn’t have much patience for this (but I so can live with this as I won’t need to use this that often). Braun does state that this is designed for sensitive skin, but I can’t say if this works fine for that skin type, as I believe my skin is normal with no major issues.

Results:

Epilator:

My skin reacted just like if I was to thread or tweeze. I didn’t get much redness other than above the upper lip, though this fades after a moment. My skin appeared lighter and even. I’m extremely satisfied with that, especially since now my makeup application looks more even, and also glides on more smoothly. 😀

Cleanser:

It cleanses quite effectively. Especially since I did have a rough and dry patch under my chin that it exfoliated, and after applying a moisturizer it had finally gone after being there for a few weeks. Also I feel that my pores are truly clean and is even more likely to soak in all the goodness of my moisturizer (and I am now on the lookout for a good serum). I used rose water as a toner along with a cotton pad and it did not pick up any dirt after cleansing. Whereby before, with just using a scrub/cleansing gel dirt would still show up on the cotton pad (ok that just showed I didn’t really pay attention to cleaning my face 😛 , but hey now I can 😀 ).

Pros of Braun Face 810 – Mini Epilator and Cleansing Brush:

Epilator:

  • Sleek looks.
  • Portable.
  • Picks up the finniest baby hairs (0.02 mm).
  • Pulls the hair from the root.
  • In my case, I am hair free for one month.
  • Quick and easy.
  • Makes the skin super smooth and clear, thus providing the perfect canvas for makeup.

Cleanser:

  • Can be used in the shower.
  • Claims to be suitable for even sensitive skin.
  • Makes the skin ultra clean.
  • Exfoliates very well, as it helped rid a rough and dry patch of skin under my chin.
  • Pores are ultra clean, thus ready to take full advantage of serums and moisturizers.

Cons of Braun Face 810 – Mini Epilator and Cleansing Brush:

Epilator:

  • It is not suitable for those who can’t bear the pain from a body epilator/threading/waxing or if your skin is left too irritated after pulling hair from the root.
  • Can’t shape the eyebrow.
  • For people who only wear eyeglasses, the frames can be an obstruction.

Cleanser:

  • Not so much a con, but as a precaution I use this only twice a week. They do state you can use it daily, though I am concerned about overdoing it. But if you feel your skin requires more cleansing then by all means go ahead.
  • Movements across the face need to be slow as quick movements hurt a little (though very little).

IMBB Rating:

Epilator:

4.8 (-.2 because I still need to thread/tweeze under the eye brow)

Cleanser:

4.8 (-.2 because you need to be slow and steady with it)

Would I recommend Braun Face 810 – Mini Epilator and Cleansing Brush?

Totally recommend it!!! Especially if you are already use to the epilating experience and/or for those who can’t make their parlor appointments regularly.

  1. Brilliant review Jasmine!
I can thread and wax and tweeze myself but somehow I can never gather enough courage to use any kinda epilator 🙁

    1. Thanks Neha 😀
Why you can’t epilate? I always thought it was quite similar to threading, waxing and tweezing.

  2. Oh wow! Awesome review Jasmine 😀

Now we just need a mini whitehead removal machine! I don’t kno why but I feel honi chaiye

  3. Can we use the cleanser on elbows & knees?? Cos those areas r darker and have more rough skin. Great review though, really tempted to purchase 🙂

  4. Hi, I`m using it for quite some time, I like the cleanser part as it clean up thoroughly but I´m afraid of using epilator as it is little bit painful when I use it for eyebrows.

Although I would have given it 3/5, bristles of the brush is only adequate for face and not for knee and elbows.

  5. Jasmine, nice review. The face is very sensitive. For whiteheads, I find that cleaning the skin with 100% tea tree oil can help prevent infection. I also was amazed at how beautiful this epilator looked. It really does look like a high end toothbrush. There are other things that I love about the design. I thought that the included switch that moves in 2 different directions was ingenious. I think what sets this epilator apart from other regular epilators is that it is designed specifically for the face. The way it removes hair is much gentler than a regular epilator for the body. It’s super scary to use one of those on your face because it can pinch the skin if it is loose.

  6. Hi Jomol! Great review. So helpful. Was considering to buy this and order on flipkart / Amazon and was wondering how easy is it to get the replacement brush that you said is suggested to change every 3 months? Is it available in India / online? Thanks a ton!
