Braun Silk Epil 5280 Review

Braun Silk Epil 5280

Hello Lovelies,

I am sure everybody is just going gaga over the New Year’s Eve. First of all, Happy new year in advance and may this year bring all the prosperity and health in each of our lives, also hoping IMBB to reach new bench marks. Today I am going to review Braun 5280 Silk Epil 5 Epilator. Read on to find how it fared.

Braun Epil 5280

Before I start up with the review, I would like to tell you that I have hell lot of unwanted hair. My hair is thick and grows so fast. When I leave the unwanted hair to grow on, sometimes it is hard to see my skin though it :P. I tried waxing in salons but I feel it is painful. Hot wax hurts me and cold wax give me lot of pain. Also I don’t prefer shredding INR 500 to 600 every month for waxing hands and legs.

So keeping all these in mind, I finally decided to buy epilator. Once I have tried my sister’s Philips Satinelle epilator, but I was not so happy. I did a kind of research and decided that I will buy Braun epilator, as it is a German brand. This model 5280 exactly fits my budget.

Price: INR 5000/- but I got it for INR 4500/- 😀

Warranty: 2 years

Product Description: Braun Silk Epil 5280 is cute white/pink epilator which works with electricity. It can be used to epilate both dry and wet skin.

How I use the epilator:

Once I am out of the shower, I pat dry my hands and legs. I apply corn flour on my skin and start epilating in the opposite direction of hair growth. I run the epilator again all over the skin to remove any missed ones (though the LED light will not let you miss any hair). This process takes me nearly 30 minutes. I epilate full arms and full legs and I do this every 2 weeks for effective results. I don’t use epilator for underarms, as it is so painful there and I am not ready to take up the pain. Epilators generally tweeze the hair from the root, so the hair growth and its thickness will reduce over the years.

When I used this for the first time, I had red bumps on my skin. I applied dermocalm lotion and the bumps were nowhere: D. I never had any red bumps or tingling sensation on my skin after that. Once a while, I do get ingrowth hair (only on legs though), but I exfoliate my skin regularly.

I always use this as dry epilator rather than wet. I think that way it is less messy. After epilating, I keep the epilator under running water to clean it. There is a cute little brush which will help me remove any hair struck in the tweezers. I forgot to tell about the cooling gel bag. Before I start epilating, I keep the cooling gel bag in deep freezer. Once I finish epilating, I rub my skin with this cooling gel bag and apply dermocalm lotion. The skin remains ultra smooth and soft for almost a week or two.

  1. i have not used an epilator but many people have told me that it pains like hell…so i wax..but i really want to try it..is it really painful?

    1. Hey Mily,
It doesnt pain like hell.. Once you might feel so but for me the pain is less than wax.. M using it from such a long time and now I dont have to think before wearing a sleeveless dress.. I can use it anytime

    2. Hey Mily, it actually pains. But as they say- No pain, no gain 😀 . Epilating will be painful only for the first time. If you keep epilating every second or third week (depends on hair growth), you will get used to it and the pain will be less. Don’t worry, go ahead 🙂
