Bumble and Bumble Color Minded Sulfate Free Shampoo Review

Hi Beauties,

Today I will be reviewing another Hair Color Protecting Shampoo, which I used the previous season. I first got this for my mother, but then I started sharing it with her. After 2-3 months of usage, when she recolored her hair, we got the Kerastase Bain Chroma Captive Shampoo, and I held back on reviewing this product. I wanted to compare the two products, before finally reviewing this one. I have penned my opinions regarding the Kerastase shampoo in my previous review; today I will review this shampoo from Bumble and Bumble. Both shampoos were used along with Kerastase Elixir Ultime hair Masque, which I consider as my HG masque. I like my hair products to be sulfate free; and color care products are really the gentlest variant of hair care products available.

BUMBLE AND BUMBLE SULFATE FREE SHAMPOO

About the Product:

Bumble and Bumble began as a New York salon in 1977, where they clipped, colored, and styled their way into prominence with a legendary editorial team, strong design ethic, and a line of extraordinary products.

Description:

An ultra-mild, sulfate-free shampoo that protects color integrity, prevents color fading, and helps to eliminate color washout. Formulated with a new, proprietary two-polymer technology that covalently binds to and cross-links over color-treated hair, it works to resurface the process-damaged cuticle and seal the hair to prevent color washout and fading. The color process opens the cuticle to deposit color into the hair shaft. If the cuticle is not sealed properly, water can enter and wash away new color as soon as the first shampoo (which is when the most color washout happens).

Claims:

This invigorating shampoo helps prevent color fading and washout, while keeping tones true. By locking color in and locking water out, you can keep even the hardest-to-keep hues as rich as the day of your service. Color Minded seals in shine and smooths the cuticle to make hair color glow, fights the horrid humidity, and adds healthy-looking luster and luminosity (just like a finishing coat).

What it is formulated WITHOUT:

Sulfates

How to Use:

Wet hair, lather and rinse thoroughly. To seal color and add shine, follow with Color Minded Conditioner.

My Experience with Bumble and Bumble Color Minded Sulfate Free Shampoo:

I had already heard a lot of ravings regarding this range of hair care products from Bumble and Bumble. I bought only this shampoo; but without the accompanying products of this range. This review will only be about the shampoo, and I have not tested it along with the accompanying conditioner, styling balm or UV protective polish, which are the other products of this range.

Packaging: The shampoo comes in a white color plastic bottle, on which the details are written. It has a flip cap dispenser, which helps in controlling flow of product, and prevents wastage.

Fragrance and Color: The shampoo is white in color, with a nice floral fragrance. The fragrance stays on for a while before disappearing

Consistency: The shampoo has a medium consistency, neither too thick nor too runny. Inspite of being sulfate free, it foams up quite well compared to other sulfate free shampoo. The amount needed is more than other standard sulphate containing shampoo, but still quite less compared to other sulphate free shampoos in the market. The shampoo rinses off quite easily in the shower.

Results: The results of this shampoo alone, as far as color care is concerned, is really very good. It really maintains the hair color, protects it, and maintains shine to the hair. During the process, it really cleans the hair and scalp well.

BUMBLE AND BUMBLE SULFATE FREE SHAMPOO

I have dry hair, and I really do not like my hair to be scrubbed off all its natural oils and moisturisers. This shampoo seems to make my hair a bit too squeaky clean. I have not been very comfortable with the result, as far as my post shower hair quality is concerned. My hair does feel nice and smooth and soft on the day of shampoo; but the next day, my hair starts feeling oily and weighed down at the roots. I feel I need to wash my hair daily, if I were to use this shampoo regularly. As it is sulfate free, I still need to use a cleansing shampoo now and then, to really clean my scalp and remove any product build up. I do have to consider that I am not using it with the recommended conditioner. Maybe, along with the other products of this range, my experience would have been different. But this shampoo, when used alone, really failed to impress me much, apart from its color protecting ability.

Would I recommend Bumble and Bumble Color Minded Sulfate Free Shampoo?

This is a good option for someone with colored hair, who wants to preserve and prolong the hair color using a sulfate free shampoo. However, I would definitely recommend its use along with the accompanying conditioner, styling balm and hair polish, to get the maximum benefits out of this range of hair care.
