Burberry The Beat Eau de Parfum Review

Hi everyone,

I have been struggling to publish the review of Burberry The Beat EDP for the past few days; it gets cloudy and grey whenever I pick up the camera, and then the pics don’t come out well 🙁 However, yesterday, luckily, I completed the mammoth task of clicking the pictures before the rain God decided to show its might and today, I am here with the review of Burberry The Beat EDP for you guys 🙂

Burberry The Beat Eau de Parfum

Product Details:
An intense and energetic scent with warm top notes of bergamot, cardamom, pink pepper and mandarin
Heart notes of Ceylon tea, iris and bluebell add a floral texture. White musk, vetiver and cedar wood give depth to this sensual fragrance.

My Experience with Burberry The Beat Eau de Parfum:

Whenever I pick any new perfume, I opt only for the smaller 30 ml version rather than the 50 ml ones because if I don’t like a particular scent, there are no major regrets.  When I was thinking about the kind of scent I wanted to try, Rashmita suggested “The Beat” by Burberry, and I thank her so much for helping me out 🙂

Talking about the packaging first, it’s the standard check pattern glass bottle design with a silver cap and a small charm with Burberry imprinted on it.  Through the glass bottle, you can see the amber-colored liquid inside.  There’s not much to talk about the packaging except to say that it looks classy.

Burberry The Beat Eau de Parfum

Burberry Beat is a clean and fresh scent with a lot of depth and character.  Yes, it can become someone’s signature scent, I would place it just below Issey Miyake Pleats Please in my favorite’s list (somebody from Issey Miyake should pay me for the continuous promotions I do for them :P).

It’s marketed and popular as a summer scent, but I think “The Beat” is more winter appropriate because of the warmth it exudes.  Having said that, I would like to specify that since it’s a clean scent, you can use it throughout the year.

Burberry The Beat Eau de Parfum

It does not stale out through the course of the day. I have seen that Gucci Envy Me turns stale and withers down after some hours. I do not suffer from body odor and hence good perfumes usually last longer on me. It’s a warm fragrance and you can feel that instantly on the first spritz.

Talking about the notes, you cannot really differentiate distinctly one particular note at any stage.  When you spray it on, all the top notes hit together, there’s not a prominent note that juts out, though you can feel the spiciness and warmth of pink pepper a lot initially.   The initial spiciness mellows down quite soon into the wear though the warmth is maintained by the musk and vetiver. I feel the citrus notes of Mandarin orange and bergamot underplay themselves. I cannot feel any floral notes, they make a quick appearance and disappear, and then it’s only base notes – woodsy, powdery and musky towards the end. Here are the notes in the order that they present themselves:

Burberry The Beat Eau de Parfum

Top Notes:  Pink Pepper, Mandarin Orange, Bergamot, Cardamom.

Middle Notes:  Iris, Tea, Bellflower.

Base Notes:  Vetiver, Cedar, White Musk.

It’s a perfect mix that comes out as an exquisite scent which no one would dislike.  I am not too happy with the staying power, it’s just 5 to 6 hours even with 4 to 5 spritz. Silage is not that great either, I would put it a little higher than “low.”

It’s a clean perfume, a bit complicated, but not messy. It is a fragrance that would make you smell great throughout the year.

Burberry The Beat Eau de Parfum

It’s not an overtly citrus scent.  With the presence of two strong citrus fragrant notes of mandarin orange and bergamot, you would expect it to be an assault on the senses, but that’s not the case, and I am not counting it as a disappointment either.

It’s a charming fragrance, you can smell fresh and confident wearing this scent. It’s a sophisticated scent which you can wear to a busy shopping spree, high tea, or to your hectic 9 to 5 job.

I have read somewhere that you can spray perfume on your hair to make it last longer, I haven’t tried it yet, but I am tempted enough 😛

It’s a beautiful scent, but the low staying power and low sillage raises eyebrows on the price tag. It’s a bit too expensive for a high-end fragrance that doesn’t stay for long hours, but the lovely fragrance still makes it a winner!

Pros of Burberry The Beat Eau de Parfum:

  • It’s a feminine fragrance, warm, makes you feel confident.
  • Classy packaging.
  • A beautiful scent with the right amount of spiciness.
  • You can wear it throughout the year.
  • Apt for office wear, an every day perfume.
  • Would not give you a headache.

Cons of Burberry The Beat Eau de Parfum:

  • Low staying power.
  • Low sillage.
