Burt’s Bees Petunia Tinted Lip Balm Review

By Anjana Muralidharan

At my workplace, it’s not very common to wear lipsticks. So, I was on the lookout for the best tinted lip balms around. No mirror required and perfect for a hint of color, anytime. Tinted lip balms are a good choice for the women on the go. I found many online – NYX, Burt’s Bees, Neutrogena, Bobbi Brown etc. I purchased 2 NYX and 1 Burt’s Bees tinted lip balm tubes. Here’s the review of Burt’s Bees Petunia Tinted Lip Balm.

My Experience with Burt’s Bees Petunia Tinted Lip Balm:

As I had bought it online, the first thing was to select the color I wanted from the 10+ shades that they offer. I was sceptical about choosing a dark shade because I thought they were extremely pigmented. And so, I chose one of the light colors, Petunia. Petunia is a South American plant with flowers in many colours.

The first noticeable thing about the product is definitely the unique packaging. It comes in a thick recycled cardboard cylinder which is much larger than the lip balm. Burt’s Bees recommends using it to store hair slides or cotton buds(reusability). 😀

Burt’s Bees Petunia Tinted Lip Balm Review

This balm is extremely buttery, smooth and non-sticky. I haven’t tried any lip balm as soft as this before! It glides like a dream on your lips. Doesn’t tug one bit.

Its shade is very light and almost-not-there kind of pink. It is an MLBB color on my lips. There is no shimmer(Thank God). 😛 I am not a big fan of the smell. It is a very waxy smell. It is not lingering, but not anything that excites me either.

This balm has got nourishing oils and botanical waxes like coconut oil, olive oil, sunflower seed oil, soybean oil, canola oil, jasmine flower wax, ylang ylang flower wax, beeswax, Shea butter, rosemary leaf extract. Look at all the stuff in that tiny tube! No wonder it is so very moisturizing. I usually have to re-apply lip balms every hour, but with this I am good for almost 3 hours.

Burt’s Bees Petunia Tinted Lip Balm Review

This is a 100% natural product and that makes me happy thinking about how much of ‘what’s on our lips’ goes into our tummies!

Pros of Burt’s Bees Petunia Tinted Lip Balm:

• Amazing hydration that lasts for more than 3 hours.
• 100% natural ingredients.
• Glides easily on the lips.
• Made up of a lot of great oils and waxes known for their healing and moisturizing properties.
• No phthalates, parabens, petrolatum, or SLS.
• Available in more than 10 shades.

Cons of Burt’s Bees Petunia Tinted Lip Balm:

• Smell is not that great.
• Pigmentation could have been better, but that maybe because I chose such a light sheer shade.
• No SPF.
• Not easily available in India.

Would I Repurchase Burt’s Bees Petunia Tinted Lip Balm?

I would repurchase this is another colour as I want slightly more pigmentation than this provides.
