This review will be on a foundation by the brand “By Terry.” This brand is super high end and luxurious. I have used a few products from this brand in the past and you can read the review of them on IMBB (Cellularose Blush, By Terry Cellularose Moisturising CC Cream, etc).  This review will be on the By Terry Terrybly Densiliss Wrinkle Control Serum Foundation in the shade “4 Natural Beige.”

My Experience with By Terry Terrybly Densiliss Wrinkle Control Serum Foundation:

This foundation is possibly the most expensive makeup that I have used, hence it is definitely one-time splurge for most of us, but if you ever consider spending your money on it, don’t you wish to know if it is really worth it. So, I have put this foundation through vigorous testing to bring you a complete review.

Packaging:  I like the simple packaging. It frankly doesn’t scream high end to me, but it has its own understated elegant beauty.  The foundation comes in a glass bottle with a pump and mirror finish cap. I would not consider this bottle very travel friendly.

Texture/Consistency/Blend-ability:  This foundation has a thin consistency but it is not watery. It spreads and blends quite easily and does not go on patchy or streaky. I love using my beauty blender to apply it.

Coverage and Finish:  This foundation has medium to full buildable coverage, but this foundation looks best with just one layer which helps maintain its natural looking skin-like appearance. The finish it gives is not too matte nor too dewy. It does impart a very notable yet subtle glow to the skin without making it look even the slightest bit oily or greasy. It does cover most of my skin imperfections (uneven skin tone and some redness).  It is a very creamy smooth foundation and has a very hydrating emollient feeling on the skin hence I do find a need to set this with powder even though I have dry skin.

Shade:  This foundation comes in a variety of shades and I picked #4 Natural Beige for myself. It is just a tad bit light for my MAC NW23 (Medium Beige in most foundations) skin tone and has a very yellow/beige undertone. Even though it is a bit lighter, a little bronzer fixes it right away.

Look and feel on the skin:  This foundation doesn’t feel too sticky, tacky or greasy and feels very lightweight. It does not settle into pores and does not accentuate them.  Though this foundation feels hydrating on my normal to dry skin, if you have existing dry patches, it doesn’t do it any favors and this is especially true if you apply more than one layer. Being a “wrinkle control foundation,” you would expect it to be a boon of skin with fine lines and wrinkles by smoothing them and preventing them further.

Though I am in my mid 20s and do not have wrinkles and fine lines as my primary concern, I do have very prominent smile lines and most foundations that I use more often than not will crease or crack around that area. I was hoping it wouldn’t happen with this foundation, but it is the same story. It actually makes them look worse and more prominent as the day wore on and since it had already settled into the skin, no amount of blending with my fingers would give it a more diffused appearance. I found using some sort of smoothing primer before and applying a thin layer of this product on that area would not make it appear too bad.

Staying Power:  This foundation wore pretty good through the day with little fading. It did get shiny as the day wore on hence a couple of touch-ups and blotting was required though not crucial. This foundation definitely benefits from a light layer of powder as it helps increase longevity. On the plus side, it looks absolutely gorgeous in photographs and gives no flashback.

Overall, I am pleased with this foundation, but it has not blown me away and is not my favorite by far. I really like the beautiful finish of this foundation and its lightweight texture and feel. The things that do bother me are the fact that it does get quite shiny as the day wears on and it doesn’t really help smooth over my dry patches and fine lines. And for that hefty price tag, I do think I shouldn’t have to compromise on these crucial points I look for in a foundation.

Pros of By Terry Terrybly Densiliss Wrinkle Control Serum Foundation:

• Beautiful packaging.
• Lightweight texture and feel.
• Beautiful glowy finish which makes the skin look healthy.
• Natural looking.
• Medium –full coverage. Easily buildable without becoming patchy or streaky.
• Easy to blend.
• Does not accentuate pores.
• Does not feel sticky or greasy.
• Light floral scent.
• Feels hydrating and comfortable on my normal-dry skin.
• Looks very good in photographs.

Cons of By Terry Terrybly Densiliss Wrinkle Control Serum Foundation:

• Expensive.
• No SPF.
• Will accentuate existing dry patches.
• Does not smooth over fine lines hence using a smoothing primer over those areas is a must for me/
• Does get shiny as the day wears on and a few touch-ups are required.
