It feels like a long time since I have written an article here! I had earlier reviewed a lip shine by “C.O. Bigelow” in the flavor Cinnamint. I had bought a pack of 5 lip shines a long time back. The pack included the flavor “Vanillamint” that I would be reviewing today.
This lip preparation is the ultimate three-in-one lip moisturizer. Combines high gloss, incredible moisture and long-lasting breath freshness with a creamy and minty, cooling sensation.
- Can be worn under or over lip color.
- 100% Natural Vanilla and Mint provide a creamy freshness that tingles on lips.
- Gives breath long-lasting freshness.
- Contains active levels of therapeutic apothecary ingredients.
- Not tested on animals.
- Made in USA.
USD 7.50 for 14 g (the one that I have is a smaller size and was part of a gift set).
My Take on C. O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Shine Vanillamint:
In my earlier reviews, I must have mentioned how much I love Bath and Body Works!! Crazy about BBW! I equally love products by C.O. Bigelow (which are available at BBW stores). They are mild, gentle and many ingredients that they contain are 100% natural. The packaging of Vanillamint lip shine is sleek, sturdy and travel friendly. There have been times when I have not carried a handbag, or purse, and this lip shine was sleek enough to fit in my pocket (without causing any discomfort).
It is a white-colored tube with a black cap. The flavor name, number, description of the product and ingredients are mentioned on the tube. It comes with a slant applicator, making application really easy. The product as a whole looks simple but really cute.
It really does smell of vanilla! Tastes like mild sweet vanilla as well! The flavor does not feel unnatural or artificial at all, and in fact feels quite mild. The consistency is neither runny nor too thick, and feels really smooth and easy to apply. On applying this, I can immediately feel the cooling sensation of fresh mint. Lips look fuller, healthier and sooooo glossy! The cool tingling minty sensation becomes subtle after a few minutes, but I can feel the freshness for a long time.
It does moisturize lips and keeps them hydrated for a long time. In fact, it heals chapped lips to some extent. Even when applied on cracked/chapped lips, it does not settle in fine lines and does not look flaky. It works well even during harsh winter, but I prefer using this as a gloss, rather than a lip balm. Since it is completely clear, it goes well over any lipstick. I am totally in love with the staying power. It stays on for about 6-7 hours without meals, and for 4 hours or so with meals in between.
Though the shine and flavor become subtle, lips definitely feel the hydration. The only problem with this is that it is a little sticky. For a completely clear balm / gloss, I think it is a little pricey. But BBW often has offers like “Buy 2 Get 1 Free” going on. Anyway, the performance of this lip shine makes it all worth it.
Pros of C. O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Shine Vanillamint:
- Softens lips, keeps them hydrated and supple.
- Fresh minty cooling sensation.
- Mild yummy vanilla flavor.
- Fragrance and taste are not overpowering.
- Glossy (but not over-the-top).
- Works well as a balm as well as gloss.
- Smooth texture.
- Easy to apply.
- Sleek, sturdy, travel friendly.
- Great staying power.
- Not tested on animals.
Cons of C. O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Shine Vanillamint:
- A bit sticky.
- For a completely clear lip balm/gloss, I think the price is a bit unwarranted.
- Unavailability in India. Though available on some online shopping sites, it is really really expensive.
This seriously stands true to all its claims!! Considering flavor, I love Cinnamint more. But for all vanilla lovers, it is a complete treat!!! A great buy for the winters!!!
