I am so happy today while writing this review. After the matte 9 to 5 range, these crease-less lipsticks from Lakme grabbed my attention and my unabashed desire to have them, finally made me pick up two shades from the range :p I bought one more shade – “Wine Order.” I wanted more, but mom gave me a limited budget in which I had to manage everything. Let’s continue with the review now 🙂
Make an impeccable impact with a single stroke of confidence! New Lakme 9 to 5 Crease-less lipstick has 20 work ready shades which are not only long lasting but also totally crease-less! Its ultra-creamy texture glides smoothly, and hides lines in one stroke. SPF 15, vitamin E, olive oil and jojoba oil keep your lips nourished and healthy all day long.
- 100% crease coverage in a single stroke.
- Ultra creamy texture.
- Glides easily.
- Delivers hi-color payoff.
- Every day office essential.
- SPF 15 protection.
- Contains Vitamin E, olive oil and jojoba oil.
The packaging is nothing new; all things are same as the previous matte range. The bullet comes in a heavy rose gold body, with a tight cap. The outer packaging is also rose gold. The shade name is mentioned at the bottom of the bullet. There is no color coded area which makes the inside shade easily detectable. Overall, the packaging is sleek and sturdy.
My Take on Lakme 9 to 5 Crease-Less Rose Alert Creme Lipstick:
Shade: Rose Alert is a cool-toned mauvish pink shade with concentrated silver shimmer, the shimmer isn’t visible on lips. The pink has a mix of some sky blue and some mauvish undertones to it and can be called a rosy pink color. Only fair to medium skin tone beauties can pull off the shade but dusky skin tones will look washed out. The color is not milky in any way but has kind of silvery sheen to it, which is because of the shimmers in it. The shade is perfect for office wear.
Texture and Finish: The texture of the lipstick is somewhat like the Absolute Creme range; since this one also is a creme, the texture is very smooth and creamy. As the tag says “creaseless,” the lipstick applies effortlessly, depositing even color on lips and there is no uneven patchiness of color, as with the matte ones. The lipstick won’t overly emphasize dry or flaky lips but exfoliating lips before application will be a smart step as the dead skin cells on the lips can hinder the even application of color on lips. The tag “creaseless” is quite accurate as it really goes even and makes lip lines visible and feels hydrating on lips. Also, it doesn’t settle into the fine lines, does not bleed either. At least, I didn’t have any such problem. As the lipstick contains some very good moisturizing agents, initially the lipstick feels very balmy and moisturizing on lips for quite a few hours; but after an hour or so, the lipstick settles on lips and feels a bit matte creamy kind. The formula is very comfortable on lips, doesn’t have any kind of waxiness or heavy feeling on lips. The finish is between creamy matte, but it leans more towards creamy than matte.
Pigmentation: The lipstick is decently pigmented and the color pay-off in one swipe would give semi opaque coverage; the color is build-able, but this shade doesn’t have that thickness or opacity in it. Those who have severely pigmented lips, I suggest to skip this shade.
Staying Power: I read many reviews of this range of lipsticks which say that these lipsticks stay for 5-6 hours or so, but this shade lasted on me for 3.5- 4 hours without eating anything. Well, in the fourth hour, it almost faded unevenly from my lips. I wouldn’t get upset over this because the texture is so that it wouldn’t last long and will transfer.
Pros of Lakme 9 to 5 Crease-Less Rose Alert Creme Lipstick:
- A nice cool-toned mauve pink shade, can be called a rosy pink color.
- A perfect office-wear shade.
- The texture is creamy smooth.
- The formula is very moisturizing and feels very comfortable on lips.
- Doesn’t bleed.
- Covers fine lines of the lips, doesn’t exaggerate flaky lips.
- Won’t settle in fines lines of the lips.
- Color payoff is good in a single swipe.
- Contains SPF 15.
- Staying power is satisfactory for 3 hours, if we consider the creamy, buttery texture of the lipstick.
Cons of Lakme 9 to 5 Crease-Less Rose Alert Creme Lipstick:
- This shade wouldn’t every skin tone, can wash out dusky skin tones.
- Not an apt shade for severely pigmented lips.
- Prepping lips is highly recommended for smooth and even application of the color.
- Fades unevenly from the lips and the shimmer sticks behind.
Would I Recommend Lakme 9 to 5 Crease-Less Rose Alert Creme Lipstick?
This time they came up with nothing new in this range, except the so-called creamy “creaseless” tag, they do not even have any great or pretty shades in their range. Some are too dark or too light or too bright for an average girl, only 3 or 4 of them can be good pics, but I would suggest if you have fair or cool skin tone, you can definitely purchase this one, but others should check out the shades at the counter and then make the purchase.
I will rate this lipstick 4/5, I think they are not that bad, but there are better options in the market.
