Canmake Gokunobi Mascara Review

Hi guys!
This time, I was looking for a cheap mascara after using the terrible Eyemania mascara. I was drawn to this because I had already used the Gokubuto mascara.

Packaging:
The mascara comes in a pink tube with a silver cap. The brand name and name of the mascara are in silver writing. Canmake is known for very pretty packaging but this one feels very standard and nothing extraordinary.

How To Use:
1. Using the side of the brush with the short bristles, apply 2-3 times from the roots to the tips, while moving the brush from left to right.
2. After it has dried a little, use the side of the brush with the long bristles to apply another coat as though extending the tips of your lashes.
3. On your lower lashes, apply from the root to the tip, as though pressing lightly.

My Thoughts on Canmake Gokunobi Mascara :

This mascara is waterproof and has fibers in it, so right off the bat, I recommend you be careful while applying because it may poke and irritate your eyes. But it hasn’t irritated my eyes so far.

Formula:
Bear with me on this rant; the formula on this one was creamy but thin in the first month. At the time, it didn’t do anything to my lashes. I wouldn’t even get lash definition, let alone length or volume. It was like I had nothing on my lashes. All it did was adding a slight black tint to my lashes. Utterly disappointed. But the cheapo in me didn’t want to buy a new mascara. Haha.

So I persisted and kept testing and kept using it. After the 1 month mark, it pleasantly surprised me. I guess the formula dried and thickened a bit more. Now it gives me decent length but not a lot of volume. So from end of first month to end of second month, it was at the right consistency to give me good length and definition. It made my lashes look long and luscious. I really enjoyed using it in this time.

Anyway, moving on to the third and end of third month, it dried out and the application became very difficult. Even when I tried putting in a few eye drops to thin it out, the formula would not change. It would pull on my lashes and flake.

Wand/ Is it volumising or lengthening?
The wand on this mascara has very short bristles on one end and longer (bristles are curved) on the other. The shorter bristles are more volumising/defining and the longer bristles are for lengthening. Now I find that the shorter bristles don’t do a great job at volumising. So the overall look is still lengthened and defined lashes.

Transfer:
One problem that has been happening quite often for me is that it will transfer to the upper eyelid and below the eyes if I used it on upper and lower lashes. So I always apply my foundation after I use my mascara.

Removal:
This is a film type mascara and so it comes off with warm water. But removal has been a task right from the start, and even more so from the third month onwards. I find I have to rub my eyes hard to get the mascara off and most of the times even after using a cleansing oil and cleanser, I find there is some residue remaining every time.

Canmake Gokunobi Mascara

Right now, I want to dump this mascara because every time I remove it, I feel I am losing a few eyelashes. I’m someone who uses mascara almost daily so this mascara is no longer worth the effort unfortunately.

Pros of Canmake Gokunobi Mascara:

• Great lash definition after formula dries a bit.
• Good lengthening mascara.
• Easy-to-use wand.

Cons of Canmake Gokunobi Mascara:

• Formula terrible in the first and third/fourth month of usage.
• Transfers onto the nearby skin.
• Difficult to remove even though it is film type.
• Has fibers which can potentially poke the eyes.
• Fibers don’t do much for volume.

Would I Recommend Canmake Gokunobi Mascara?
There are way better mascaras out there. I don’t recommend this one.
