After trying the MUA lip liners, I did buy some from KIKO and Catrice as well. Thanks to IMBB, you can decide which is the best among the several ones you see. I wanted to buy lip liners as I have started stocking up and learning to groom myself with makeup. I came across Catrice 100 Upper Brown Side and Hey Macadamia lip pencil and, thanks to the reviews, I knew this range was a must-have. While I was shopping and swatching all the lip pencils ‘And The Cherry On The Top’ caught my attention. I love plums and dark reds, and I picked this one along too. My Experience with Catrice 040 And The Cherry On The Top Longlasting Lip Pencil:

I have few products from Catrice and most of them have given me very good results, and I kind of have built a trust on the brand. I love deep, dark colors as I have pigmented lips and lighter shades do not cover them effectively. So I picked up few nudes and this dark one.

Like the name suggests, it is a pencil and has to be sharpened. It is a wooden pencil and can be easily sharpened but the wood leaves flakes on the sharpened part. The plastic cap is satisfactory and it houses the crayon safe and doesn’t loosen up. The only complaint I have with Catrice is that their lip and eye pencils do not come with a tamper-proof seal.

The product is creamy and glides smoothly. The color is dark and pigmented. The color is more like a dark maroon pigmented red. It is indeed a very deep red but, when applied on the lips, it looks like a deep shade of red with hues of dark maroon. The color is very similar to that of a half ripened cherry! The pencil has to be applied to well moisturized lips as the product is dry; applying on chapped lips makes it look ugly. As it is a dark shade, the color lasts long.

With normal eating and drinking, the color stays without any fading for approx. 6 hours and even after that the pigment still stays. I just have to moisturize my lips. However, as my lips start to turn dry, the product starts to settle into the dry creases of my lips. But I think it would be same with all the products. The lip pencil doesn’t move even a little bit from the line I make in the morning. I do not have any matching lipsticks to go with it so I am yet to find out how it would work with a lipstick.

The product doesn’t house any sharpener and thus it is a little inconvenient if you are travelling for you must have a sharpener along. So far, I love the color and I have been applying it on its own, i.e. without any lipstick.
