Catrice Cosmetics 20 Red or Bad Ultimate Shine Gel Lip Colour Review

Hey everyone,

I’m back with yet another lipstick review from the brand Catrice. This time I have re-entered my genre, that is, bold lipstick and I feel so happy about it. So, the lipstick that I’m going to talk about in detail is the shade 020 Red or Bad from the Catrice Ultimate Shine Gel Lipcolour range. So let’s hop on to the review.

My Experience with Catrice 20 Red or Bad Ultimate Shine Gel Lip Colour:

The lipstick comes in a glossy, shiny, silver metallic cylindrical case which bears the shade name and number on a coloured shade indicating sticker, attached to the base. There is no outer carton, neither does the lipstick come properly sealed which I feel is a downside to the packaging. Nevertheless, the case is quite sturdy for its price and click locks tightly. The lipsticks have a very pleasant vanilla fragrance to them which we can smell the moment the case is opened. The fragrance is comparable to the Colorbar lippies.

Coming to the shade Red or Bad, this one’s a cross between orange and red, with the red part being more predominant. The shade looks warmer on my NC 42 skintone but on fairer, cooler skintones it appears cooler and more red than orange. This shade instantly brightens up my face and makes me look atleast two tones lighter. I generally wear this lipstick on days when I need to go out and look fresh but feel lazy to do a full face. On such days, a little BB Cream, nicely lined eyes and this lippie is all it takes to fetch me some wonderful compliments. The colour would look beautiful on fair and medium complexions but I would suggest girls duskier than NC45 to be a bit careful while wearing it as it might end up looking garish if one is heavy handed.

Texture-wise I have a love and hate relationship with this one. It is super saucy and moisturising and glides on the lips like melted butter. It makes the lips look plump and luscious. One can easily skip the lip balm with this on but this glossy, moisturising feel even has a downside to it. The balmy texture makes the bullet super prone to melting and it’s a pain to use this lipstick in this hot and humid weather of Kolkata. Infact even while clicking the pictures I had a real tough time with this one. Every now and then, it felt as if the bullet is about to break. Thus I rarely ever swirl out the entire bullet from the case and totally rely on a lip brush for a safe and smooth application.

In terms of pigmentation, being a glossy lippie, it is averagely pigmented and I need a good 2-3 layers to build up the colour and attain a full coverage.

The lipstick has a very average staying power of about two hours and fades off leaving a soft red tint which I like. It however, disappears completely post a heavy meal without leaving any stain whatsoever, and reapplication becomes a must. Being a creamy, glossy lippie it transfers crazily and I suggest blotting the lips post application to remove the excess and prevent the transferring to some extent.

  1. This shade is also too good Ankita. I can’t decide which one of Catrice lippies is the best. If I somehow find a counter I think I am gonna have a hole in my pocket :). But the downside for this lipsticks are their ultra creamy nature. I think they are going to make a complete mess on my super oily skin 🙁

    1. I second you Tiya, indeed very difficult to choose but don’t worry about the oily skin part, even I have super oily t-zone yet it doesn’t create any havoc once it’s applied nicely, doesn’t bleed whatsoever
