Catrice is a well-known fun, affordable and a very good drugstore makeup brand in Europe. I have seen it for sale in Belgium, Germany and everywhere in Netherlands, so its a pretty big brand. The products are excellent and they offer from nail color to primers with everything in between over their little counters.
Their product are a sight to behold, you can see so much effort is put on all this and their products cost from €3 to €10, they have 4 collections on offer at the moment and they all look so much more fancy than you are paying for.
The collections are Welcome to Las Vegas, Big City Life, The Bohemian Style, The Modern Muse Look and Welcome to Wonderland.
They are very designer inspired and you can get a bucket load of dupes from higher brands as well; you just have to look for it or compromise on a finish or texture, which I think is fine as far as dupes are concerned.
I was looking for a pink eyeshadow, to copy a look on the web, and I am not going to lie, it was Michelle Phan :D. Also, I found out later that the look she did would never work with my eye shape, but at least, I got to discover an awesome brand that offers a lot of great products.
The shadow I bought is named Pink Rock Super Star and it is as pink as it can get, and I love it. It comes in a simple shadow packaging as it seems to be from their permanent line. It is very sturdy and quite safe, as I haven’t seen any powder flying from it at all. The shadow is packed with color, thus the pigmentation is fierce and you have to go light handed with it. In my first try, I thought it was not showing at all, so I swiped the color only once again, and to my surprise, I looked like a drag queen, wish it was awesome, but isn’t the look I was going for.
This is from the line Absolute Eye Color and seems to be one of their bestsellers because the shadows are very pigmented, silky, long lasting and there is a lot of it. I once saw a makeup artist in the store using it as a blush color and I must say it blew my mind 😀 It really gives an awesome cheek color and it so easy to swipe the brush, because the pan is so big.
Pros of Catrice Eyeshadow – 300 Pink Rock Super Star:
- Excellent quality.
- Long lasting (around 4 hours without a primer, whole day with it).
- No creasing (and I have oily lids).
- Fragrance free.
- Frost finish (is kinder on wrinkles).
- Available in Duos, Trios, Quartets as well.
Cons of Catrice Eyeshadow – 300 Pink Rock Super Star:
- No ingredient list.
- Available only in stores.
I apologize for the swatch, it really doesn’t do justice to the color payoff. The brand doesn’t seem to trade online, neither nationally or internationally, so availability might be a problem, so if any friend is traveling, always ask for a Catrice product to try, you will not regret it, on top of that the non-existent list of ingredients (always good to check before you buy, if you are allergy prone). I really couldn’t find a fault in this eyeshadow as it really impressed me for the price it came for. Next for me is to get it in every single color, if they keep the same quality while manufacturing every shade, then it is money well spent.
