I recently purchased a few lip liners from the Catrice Velvet Matt range and today’s review is all about Catrice Velvet Matt Lip Pencil Colour and Contour in the shade Fly Away Pretty Flamingo. So, read on to know more.

My Experience with Catrice Velvet Matt Lip Pencil Colour and Contour – Fly Away Pretty Flamingo:
The lip liner isn’t sealed and Catrice has to improve a lot on their packaging to promote hygiene. The pencil can be sharpened using a normal sharpener and there is not much fuss about it. The cap and the end of the pencil depict the colour of the liner. Also, the cap is sturdy and doesn’t open on its own and hence, it is easy to carry around. The basic details are mentioned on the lip liner and the shade name is mentioned on a sticker.
The lip liner is extremely soft and creamy almost velvet like and thus, it breaks off easily while sharpening; extra care is needed while sharpening it. The lip liner glides smoothly and you can use it to outline or fill in your lips. It provides a clean matte finish to the lips. The shade Fly Away Pretty Flamingo is a beautiful coral-pink/Flamingo-pink colour with red undertones. The liner contains carmine and thus, if you are looking for something cruelty-free, this product is not for you.
I have used lip liners as lipsticks when I am in a hurry but, this colour doesn’t provide enough coverage. I have pigmented lips and even though it does justice to my lower lip, it hardly covers my pigmentation on the upper lip and hence, my lips look patchy. It does work as a good lip liner for outlining the lips and stays for a pretty long time. However, it does fade away within 2-3 hours on the lips and you will be left with a liner with no colour inside. So, it is not a good choice for filling in.
The product has to be applied to well-moisturised lips else, it clings onto the dry patches and makes my lips look very odd. The lip liner doesn’t smudge and you can hardly get it on your fingers after a few minutes. The product is also waterproof and the lip liner acts a perfect base for lipsticks. Even though the lip liner’s performance is a little poor, but when combined with a lipstick, it increases the duration of the colour. By doing so, the staying power of the lipstick increases by 2-3 hours than its normal duration. Overall, I love this lip liner as it is a beautiful pink shade but it is such a pity that I cannot use it alone.

- Very soft, thus breaks easily.
- No sealed package.
