My Experience with Catrice Velvet Matt Lip Pencil Colour and Contour – Mauve in the Brown Direction:
The easy to sharpen Catrice Velvet Matt Lip Pencil Colour and Contour comes unsealed, very much similar to the other products from Catrice. The cap and the bottom rim denote the shade of the product. The cap is sturdy and doesn’t open up on its own making the product a travel-friendly one. Most of the lip liners in this range contain carmine, but this shade doesn’t have it.
The shade “Mauve in the Brown Direction”, when swatched on the hands, looks like a pretty mauve colour with brown undertones. I like this shade very much. However, on my lips, it looks like a light mauve colour with pink undertones. It is a beautiful n*de shade. The lip pencil has a soft, creamy texture and it glides easily on the lips without any effort. But, the creamy pencil breaks even with a little pressure or sharpening.
The lip liner hides the pigmentation of my lips by providing an opaque coverage. The product glides smoothly and provides a matte finish to the lips. Being a waterproof lip liner, it doesn’t smudge on the lips. While outlining the lips is easy-breezy, filling in the lips causes a little bit tugging and this leads to an uneven application. Also, one should apply the product onto well-moisturised lips else it will cling onto the dry patches on the lips.
Like all the lip liners from the velvet matte range, this one also hardly stays for about 2-3 hours. Even though the lip liner’s performance is a little poor, but when combined with a lipstick, it increases the duration of the colour. By doing so, the staying power of the lipstick increases by 2-3 hours than its normal duration. While I am happy with the shades, I would probably never buy this range again as there are several lip liners which do a very great job for a decent price.
