My Experience with CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser:

I was running low on my all-time favorite face cleanser till date which is the Cetaphil Face Wash hence I decided to try this product from Cera Ve for a change. Cera ve has two products under their face cleanser line which is the Hydrating Cleanser for normal to dry skin and foaming facial cleanser which is for normal to oily skin. Since my skin is on the very dry side this winter, I decided to pick up the hydrating one.

Packaging:

This product comes in huge opaque pump dispenser bottle. I really don’t know why companies make opaque bottles. It makes it so difficult to know when to restock on the product if it is running low.

Consistency:

The consistency of the face wash is like what you would get if you mixed equal parts of gel with a very rich cream. It spreads very easily on the face. This product is a cream cleanser which means it produces little to no lather at all. Hence you would not get that squeaky clean feeling you would get if you use a product that produces tons of lather.  It does clean the face off dirt and impurities, but my skin does not feel ripped of its oils. It does not irritate or make my skin break out. I feel that this product will only benefit people with dry to extremely dry skin. If you fall in the category of oily/combination skin type, you would find that this product doesn’t clean your face enough.

Also, this face wash doesn’t work too well in removing makeup especially waterproof makeup. It could work great to follow up on your face after using a makeup remover to get rid of the residue makeup and moisturize the skin in one step, but I would not rely on this product alone to clean my face off makeup and piled up products.

Fragrance:

This product has a very pleasant mild floral scent. Scent does not linger on skin for too long.

Effects on Skin:

My skin feels very hydrated and soft immediately after using this product. Skin does not feel squeaky clean instead your skin feels like it has some amount of absorbed layer of moisturizer on it.  My skin does not get dry or flaky at all since I started using this product in my nightly routine.

Overall, I am very pleased with this product, but it will benefit only certain skin types which is dry to extra dry. I would not recommend this product to any other skin types.

Pros of CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser:

  • Affordable.
  • Very hydrating and moisturizing.
  • Pleasant floral scent.
  • Makes skin softer and more supple in one use.

Cons of CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser:

  • Opaque bottle.
  • Does not lather at all.
  • Does not work well at removing makeup.
  • Only suitable for dry skin, not for oily skin.
