Mattes have always been my favorite. Be it lippies, foundations, blushes or anything else for that matter, I have always had this strange affinity for matte products. Further when it is a matte red lippie tailor made for my warm wheatish tone, it becomes super difficult for me to give it a miss. So today I would share my views on the shade Black Cherry from our much loved range of Chambor Powder Matte lipsticks. .
Product Description: An Innovative Formulated Lipstick which has both Moisturizer + Matte Effect in it. Powder Matte Lipsticks have a Non-Drying Triple Action Formula which:
1) Hydrates – Vitamin A & Jojoba Oil
2) Protects from the sun – UVA & UVB Filters (SPF – 15)
3) Has anti-ageing formula which softens & smoothens the lips – Vitamin E.

My Experience with Chambor Black Cherry Powder Matte Lipstick :
Ever since Neha reviewed these lippies on the blog ,I had fallen head over heels in love with them and I started collecting the various shades they come in. Over the years they have changed the lipstick case from the old, stubby, velvety one to the newer, sleeker one which I like. The lipstick case now has a more elegant appearance, making it more apt for young girls and matured women alike. It’s a glossy, dark blue/black one with a rectangular shape. A silver tube with the brand name engraved on it holds the bullet. The top of the case bears the Chambor logo and at the bottom of the case one can find the shade name and number printed on a reddish pink sticker. The uniform reddish pink sticker across all the shades however defeats the purpose of having a coloured sticker as one still needs to remember the shade names or numbers if she is a hoarder of this range. The outer packaging has also changed a bit. The case locks tightly and can easily be carried around. The lippie comes in a dark blue cardboard box which hold the various details like the date of manufacture, expiry date, price, ingredients, etc. Unfortunately, I have thrown away the outer packaging so you can check out the images here.
Now coming to the shade Black Cherry, as the name suggests it’s a dark red shade. It’s one of the shades that were newly launched last year. It’s a typical Indian wedding red shade which suits all types of skin tones owing to it’s deep undertones. The colour looks best with simple, minimal makeup. Thickly kohl rimmed eyes is all you need to rock this shade. Black Cherry is a great pick for winters and also for date nights. I’ve worn it a lottttt last year in the winters and as you can see I’ve almost reached the end. I feel every girl must have one such bold shade as it’s a great pick me up for days when you are back from work all exhausted and need to attend a social gathering. A swipe of this colour would instantly brighten up the complexion.
The shade initially reminded me of Diva by M.A.C however on swatching the two next to each other Diva seemed a bit cooler and darker owing to it’s stronger pigmentation. This is a tad warmer and lighter than Diva but they are still pretty similar I would say. So if you are on a budget and want something similar to Diva you could definitely give this one a shot. It has a mild sweet fragrance which disappears over time.
Texture-wise this is a velvety matte shade. It glides quite smoothly on the lips without any tucking or pulling. Once applied it sets to a nice matte finish on the lips and is transfer proof, however, after about 3-4 hours a tad bit of dryness can be felt. Further this can highlight the fine lines on the lips so I would suggest girls with dry lips to prep the lips with a lipbalm before application.
The pigmentation of this shade is quite strong as is common with most bold shades. With one swipe we get a decent coverage. It can be sheered down and worn as a soft red stain for daily use.Being a bold shade it stays put for 4-5 hours with mild fading as the hours pass by. It survives light snacks and drinks however, reapplication becomes a must post a full meal as no stain is left behind.
Pros of Chambor Black Cherry Powder Matte Lipstick :
- Nice bold shade which brightens up a tired face
- No tugging or pulling on the lips during application
- Good coverage
- Decent staying power
- Contains SPF 15
- Transfer proof formula
Cons of Chambor Black Cherry Powder Matte Lipstick :
- The formula could be a little drying at times
- May highlight the fine lines on the lips.
- The fragrance though mild may not be liked by all as some people do not like scented products.
IMBB Rating: 4.5/5
Would I repurchase/ recommend Chambor Black Cherry Powder Matte Lipstick ?
I have almost reached the end of this tube and once it gets over I would definitely repurchase a new tube as I feel one should always have at least one such shade in her stash. I recommend this shade to all girls with warm skin tones on the lookout for a perfect matte dark red shade.
