Chambor Truly Lasting Lipstick in Truly Flame – Review, Swatches and LOTD
I am back with the review of the Chambor Truly Lasting Lipstick – Truly Flame – one of the only 2 Chambor lipsticks that I own . 🙂
This shade is a first in my life in more than one way:
1. It is the first (and last) shimmer lipstick that I own
2. It is the first time I bought a lipstick in like 2 mins – not because I was completely bowled over by the shade but because I was hurrying to a wedding and did not have a dark red lippie in my stash, so stopped on the way and picked it up
3. It was the first time I listened to the SA while buying a lippie *headbang*
So, let’s get on to the review and swatches.
Price: Rs. 625
Packaging: Lovely black and sleek long casing with a firm cap. I love how sleek and classy it looks – and so easy to carry too.
Shade: Okkkkayyy…so like I mentioned earlier, I picked this shade up thinking it would be a nice dark red lippie to go with the blood red sari that I was wearing, and I was in a mad rush that day. I did not notice the obvious golden shimmer that this has – although honestly, the shimmer is not very visible or chunky.
The shade itself looks maroonish red in the tube, but on my lips it transforms completely into a jammy red with an obvious fuchsia tinge. I was surprised to see how different and not-so-red it looks on my lips! The shimmers are not that visible, but just add a nice sheen. I think this shade would look very good with heavy ethnic wear for the evenings. It’s a festive shade and very very apt for brides because of the shimmer. It would also look very good on all skin tones – especially warm toned people. Here are the swatches:
And here’s how it looks on my lips:
See how dark it looks in the tube, but looks more like a reddish fuchsia on my lips?
Texture: Its very creamy and applies very smoothly and evenly. Doesn’t settle into the fine lines at all and gives a nice smooth glossy finish. Its very hydrating and you don’t need a lip balm at all beneath this.
However, I am not a fan of the texture – this lipstick tends to bleed a lot, even with a lip liner. It transfers very easily and the staying power is just about 2 hours without meals. I hate how it fades unevenly from my lips ☹
Overall rating: Honestly speaking I prefer matte red lippies and don’t dig jammy and shiny red lips all that much. So, I am not very happy with this shade and the texture is a big con as well. The shimmer is an absolute deal-breaker for me. So, I definitely won’t repurchase this. Also, I HATE the sweet candy-like nauseating smell that all Chambor lippies have. Makes me want to throw up.
However, it’s a good shade for the upcoming festive season and definitely goes very well with ethnic wear – so do try it on your lips first to see how it looks on you. And if you are a would-be-bride then I think you must check it out.
