Ola Bonita Chica’s!
How is everyone doing today? With the weather changing into the summer heat I’m slowly starting to put away all my bronzers and heavier contouring products. The wedding season has also sadly come to an end and I am now on the lookout for gentle blushes that radiate some of that inner goddess glow as opposed to that sharp and on point contour I was pulling over for the beginning part of this year. I can’t do very much of that now especially because it gets so hot in the summer that my makeup almost melts off my face. Plus in the summer I am looking for less ‘layers’ of makeup on my face. I have just the thing for you and even though it is a bit pricey, it is completely worth it!
Product description
The Chanel Joues Contraste’s come as luxurious individual units with applicator brushes. The primary packaging contains the plastic unit in the familiar velvet case with the over lapping C’s imprinted in it. I love these velvet cases because they really do prevent scratches and prevent your product breaking in the case of any rough bumps. Plus they just make you feel like a goddess. The plastic cases have the over lapping C’s printed in white and lock securely. The blush inside was covered with a protective hygienic plastic also imprinted with Chanel’s insignia but the applicator did not come in any plastic covering. The applicator brush is made of real hair and has the brand name in bold printed at the bottom. It also does not have the expiry date printed on the product.

My experience with the Chanel 99 Rose Pétale Joues Contraste Powder Blush:
Although I only have a few Chanel products I can tell you they really are expensive but luxurious. Of course there are several brands where you can easily find dupes for Chanel but that is not the point. The point is to bathe your cheeks in this is warm peachy pink blush with ultimate and uber luxury. And this certainly helps you accomplish that. I think this is a very Indian skin tone friendly shade .
There is a shimmer component in this blush which is very visible in pan but for some reason it does not show up on the cheeks. I also like that this blush is not very powdery at all so there is no wastage of product. Rose Pétale is highly pigmented and the colour pay off is excellent! It does not look as warm in the pan as it shows up on skin but the colour is very natural looking when applied. The texture of this blush is very silky and you really get what you pay for. You need the tiniest amount for cherub cheeks! There is also a slight floral fragrance to this so I know they’ve got some dodgy ‘parfum’ in it but it has not broken me out. It will last you all day with no need for touch ups.
This blush also does not cause or emphasize any flaky dry patches. The only thing I am a bit on the fence is about the applicator brush. It is not too small and applies well but I rely on my blusher brush because I feel that gives me a controlled application. This blush definitely checks all my boxes for the kind of makeup I want to wear in the summertime and it feels extremely light on!
Pros of Chanel 99 Rose Pétale Joues Contraste Powder Blush:
- Lightweight
- Very good pigmentation
- Great shade for Indian skin tones
- Smells good
- Not powdery so no wastage
- Looks natural when applied
Cons of Chanel 99 Rose Pétale Joues Contraste Powder Blush:
- Contains parabens
- Small applicator makes you go a bit overboard on application
Would I repurchase or recommend the Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Rose Pétale 99?
Yes absolutely to both! I’m sure I will try out another shade once I save up a little and you all have got to try it too- at least once!
IMBB Rating:
3/5 for its paraben content otherwise this is a 5/5 for me!

beautiful, just my shade
Wow! such a pretty shade. How do you get so many good products. 🙂
I research like hell before I buy. Plus I put an hour or two aside every weekend to go without makeup on to Sephora/drug store/any mall near me to just swatch stuff and try out a whole bunch of stuff. It’s like going to therapist for me, it washes away the week’s stress! 🙂 And even if I don’t buy anything I come back with a free make over! Haha!
I still have my share of dud’s though!
Subtle and pretty shade, great for everyone 🙂
