“A girl should be two things- Classy and Fabulous”- Coco Chanel.
The above quote has been ingrained into me since the time I read it. Today’s review is on yet another perfume owned by me from the very famous Chanel brand. I am a big time fragrance hoarder as I feel that perfumes instantly lift up my mood. I love to try different fragrances and for this reason I never buy the same perfume again. Anyway, lets take a look at how the very famous Coco Mademoiselle Chanel Eau De Toilette fared on me.
INR 8810 for 100ml.
Sexy, fresh oriental fragrance recalls the irrepressible spirit of the young Coco Chanel. Lighter, more relaxed fragrance form. A subtle way to apply fragrance. Delicately fresh and citrusy.
My Take on Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Eau De Toilette:
Before I describe the fragrance, here is a little introduction. Coco Chanel as we all know was a French Fashion Designer and the founder of the luxurious Chanel brand. The fragrance deals in fashion and accessories, eyewear, fragrances and beauty, fine jewellery and watches. I was lucky enough to be gifted this fragrance Coco Mademoiselle Eau De Toilette which was launched in the year 2002 . This composition along with the Eau De Parfum was created by Jacques Polge who happens to be the perfumer for Chanel since 1978.
Packaging: It comes in a simple rectangular glass bottle with a white coloured cap and a golden top which doesn’t come off and has a spray nozzle on it. There is nothing fancy about the packaging but it stills oozes sophistication, may be its just the name Chanel which is enough *sigh*.
Top Notes: Mainly constitute orange, bergamot and grapefruit. No wonder it comes across as a citrusy fragrance
Middle Notes: Litchi, Rose, Italian Jasmine. These create a bright feminine aroma around this fragrance.
Base Notes: Patchoulli, Vanilla, White Musk add to the sensuousness.
Well, all the notes are nicely balanced and you can make out each of them distinctly. It starts as a heady fragrance and two squirts are enough to keep you blossoming through out the day. Within 10 minutes the fragrance starts to settle down and you can smell the floral composition. It ends up more as musky and an oriental fragrance. Like all other Chanel fragrances, it is quite strong and overpowering. It is apt mainly for the females in their early 20’s as it has a youthful and exuberant vibe to it. Not that the older females would not like it but the chirpy , delicate and lively aura which it exudes would compliment the youth more.
Staying Power/Sillage: Since it is Eau de Toillete, the concentration of oil in the fragrance is a bit lower. When I apply it directly on to the pulse points, it stays for a good 6-8 hours and when I spew it on the clothes, the fragrance remains intact till the time the clothes are washed off. It actually stays the whole day and keeps you fresh and vibrant. Sillage is moderate but if you go overboard with the application, it might start the other person feeling nauseatic.
Summarising the pros and cons.
Pros of Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Eau De Toilette:
- Well balanced notes.
- Has a youthful and exuberant vibe to it.
- Stays on for quite a long time.
- Less is more. 1-2 squirts should be more than enough. A 100 ml bottle shall last you a year easily.
Cons of Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Eau De Toilette:
- The initial aroma is quite strong. Might give a headache to those who like mild fragrances.
- Packaging could have been fancier.
- Price may be a detterant for some.
- Not for female of all age group.
Would I repurchase/recommend Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Eau De Toilette?
No, I wont repurchase as I have already stated I like to try different fragrances. As far as recommendation goes, since the price tag is quite hefty I will advise please have a whiff at the counter before you splurge!
