Chanel illusion d'ombre mirifique review

My Experience :

Illusion D’Ombre is a long wear eyeshadow by Chanel. The texture is like mousse cream. It spreds easily on lids and is super pigmented. Mirifique is a gorgeous jet black eyeshadow with micro multi shimmer and very defined silver sparkles.  To get the real intensity of the color, I suggest that you at it with the brush that comes along with it or with a concealer brush.

I actually have a love and hate relationship with this eyeshadow. Hate because it creases on me almost after half an hour with or without primer. Starts fading (from the crease area) within a hour and the shimmer starts moving. I bought this during winter time because I totally fell for the color and my lids are less oily during winter time. But honestly, nothing stops this product from creasing or fading on my lids. I have tried using it on top of a pencil eye liner base, primer, gel eyeliner but it creases. The best way I have found is that you either apply it only on the centre of the lid or use it as a liner. I prefer just dabbing it right on top of my gel liner (upper lash line) to get a little sparkle on my lids. It looks pretty that ways.

The product comes in a wide mouthed glass jar with black lid. There is a useful synthetic bristles brush that comes along with it. It is excellent at both patting the color on lids and working as an eyeliner brush.

I thoroughly love the color . I have nothing like this in my collection. As a liner it stays on good 8 + hours on lids but at the end of the day I see shimmers almost collected near the corner of my eyes. It has never irritated my eyes. I wouldn’t recommend using on the waterline as the shimmers my hurt your eyes.

I would not recommend or ‘not’ recommend this product. I like it even with its cons but probably wouldn’t repurchase it until I find a color that is totally unique. If you don’t have oily lids, you may very well give this a try .

These days your hair is looking super stylish, Rati :pompom: :pompom:

    1. dipika, i have very less clue about the online jewellery stuff. I mostly pick up from streets here in delhi. you can check pretamoda. they keep a lot of stuff from indian designers. thank you. 🙂

  3. I love such bottoms.. I have got so used to cotton pants that I dont feel like buying denims anymore..

Loved the e/s it’s been really long since we saw you adorning bold eye makeup.. still remember your electric blue eye makeup

and the transparent bag I love that idea I had one transparent bag too but I always travel heavy and have all funny stuff in my bag so I can never go for such bags. :hihi: :hihi:

    1. awww thanks dipti. i am also wearing less and less denims because it is getting super hot here.

this transparent bag has a cute pink pouch also. so if you dont want to show your stuff, you can use that pouch. i dint have much to carry around today so used this without a pouch 😀

      1. I know it must be super hot and dry there.. Mumbai too is getting terribly hot plus the humidity levels are awful here :spank: :spank: .. dhoti pants and harems are so useful during these days..

  4. loved everything in the look
although transparent bag nt my thing 😛 I like things in my bag to hidden :stars:

smokey eye is tooo gooooodddd Rati and loved ur expression in the cover page pic 😉

  5. Rati..this is the best-est look..I am totally loving it..loved the smokey eyes :jalwa: n the beige outfit  ..just perfect :woot:

  6. So finally summers are here :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:
Love the shimmery liner….and those dark kohl-ed smokey eyes look lovely :happydance: :happydance:
And the pants look so apt for summer….comfy and cool!!!

    1. hi jinal how are you. long time. :)) yeah summers are here. it’s already so hot. i so loving these light cotton clothes. thanks. :))

    2. ohh u used the shadow as liner kya? Or all over lid?
it looks as if u applied shimmery liner on lash line….liking the effect :inlove: :inlove:

      1. me fineee…..yeah long time. Have been really busy with board exams. So no option but to check posts on mobile…and hence cud not comment often.
I love ur OOTD’s :inlove: :inlove:

        1. all over the lid jinal. and it started creasing within 15 minutes. 😐 😐 😐 it is best used as an eyeliner.

oh!! thank you. do stay around whenever you can. 🙂

  7. i opened this page….clicked on the link…checked all the shades and stared and stared at shade no. 86 (Ebloui) for some time…..then I came back…..read the review….and gave up…..3/5 for an e/s that costs almost 2000 bucks…..so not worth it no???
but i must say, it is looking fantastic on you….and the outfit is so summery…..   the overall look….  and your bro bought that neckpiece??? wow…lucky gurl!!

      1. yeah he got me in green too. it was really cute of him . :))

ritu, this creases very badly on my lids. it took me months to review it ..tested and tried it so many times but does not work for me. but i like how gorgeous it looks pigmentation wise and shimmers are quite pretty too. 🙂

        thanks. 🙂

        1. ya…it looks so pretty, sad that it doesnt work, given the brand AND the price….i toh have super oily lids…..this wont even stay for 10 mins on me….. :waaa: :waaa: :waaa: :waaa:

and yet again,,,lucky gurl!!! my bro doesnt get me anything…..on rakhi and bhai dooj, he just gives me money….jo lena hai le lo…..or he’ll make me sit online with him and order stuff…..bachpan mein he got me a cute teddy :teddy: :teddy: :teddy: ,,aj tak i have it with me…but thats it…..

          1. actually my brother is the same. this is the first time he got me something like this and I was soo delighted. 😀 😀 It’s very cute no when brothers can gift something like this. :))

ritu, the maximum you can do is create thick liner , which i also do. If you have oily lids, i would definitely not suggest this. 🙁 good morning. 🙂

  14. Hi Rati, nice cool look, I loved the baggy pants, the top also looks so nice and, of course, loved the smokey eyes you have created with the eyeshadow. This reminds me of one of the Paint Pots from Glitter & Ice collection. :)) :))

my complexion is dusky….and i have never got the courage of wearing a blush….i so so want to…do tell…thanks :puchhi:

    1. ckg these are some new blushes i am trying form sleek. I would be reviewing them in the coming week. 🙂 they are great for dusky skin tones. 🙂

  20. Black thread on upper arm & Thumb Ring….. :inlove: Dhoti pants gotta be well-coordinated to make the look work…which you did..

      1. Me have to notice it..as I am very much into these Boho-ethnic stuff.. :haanji: I sport thumb ring most of the times & henna tattoo on arms/ankle & looking for stuffed cloth pendant with black thread..but jab tak nahi milta…Sanjeevjee’s plain thread idea will do..

          1. Your dimaag is very sharpo-fied Jomol…. :haanji:

I can say “Buri nazarwale tera moonh & mera thread kala” :pan:

  21. I love, love this outfit, from top to bottom. :haanji: Looks so very comfy, light, perfect for summer. :)) I really want a pair of pants like that. Shame the e/s creases, it looks stunning on your eyes!

  22. You look totally different in this outfit :)) very young (you look like early 20’s), First pic is awesome :)), imo i would say this eyeshadow is the best on your eyes :yahoo: :yahoo: …
    Have a great day everyone:)

  23. Wohoooo!! Great look for summers 🙂 and I liked the eye makeup too…I am still a novice at makeup so dont know about staying power and all but your eyes are looking super pretty especially the hint of shimmer 🙂 and btw Rati I mailed you a query, could you please have a look at it 🙂

      1. Morning Rati….howz the day going?  Me had my fav bread pakora today…

  24. very nice Rati. liked that you wore flats on an outfit like this versus heels since it is supposed to be a very laid back outfit. perfect for long travel too ( minus the transpy bag). Loved the eyemake up for sure. usually when you do these foto shoots i usualy forget that makeup item that you are reviewing but in this case I cant help but notice your lovely eyes.

  25. Rati..you are looking fantabulous!!!! :woot: Can u please please do a tutorial for this eye makeup…please :waaa:

  26. Rati, looking SUPER cuuuuteeee :)) And I LOVED ur eyes, u have the most beautiful eyes ever :teddy: :teddy:
I am liking those pants SO much n I’m getting rather annoyed with denims myself (even though Bangalore’s summers are not unbearable).. I wonder if they can be worn to office? (We don’t have a “formals only” dress code n I wear jeans all the time).. What do u think?

    1. ramya the only way you can use these pants to office is by wearing a little longer kurti not with such a short kurti. why dont you also try wearing ankle length trousers. they are also super comfy. 🙂

  27. i am not sure if you can substitute jeans for these pants ‘cos jeans worn well can still be a slightly formal outfit versus these pants no matter how you wear it for office will always be an extremely casual outfit.

am curious about what the others have to say too..

  28. WOW… :puchhi: :puchhi: :puchhi: :puchhi: :puchhi: :teddy: :teddy: :teddy: :teddy: very cute.. :)) every time i see a OOTD i feel this is d best look…

u r looking very very pretty…..

    Good Morning everyone :))
