I have got lipsticks from Chanel’s every range, and these Rouge Allure Velvets are simply my most favourite. These are the most amazing matte, non-drying, non-crumbly, moisturising, creamy, pigmented, comfortable, long lasting lipsticks I have come across in this brand. And, the packaging… Aaahhh!!! What can I say about that – Sexy!! The Spring 2015 Reverie Parisienne collection had some amazing lip products; and the launch page had the model wearing this shade. As soon as I saw it, I was swooning… I had to have this one. And, I did save this best review for the last!

My Experience with Chanel La Romanesque Rouge Allure Velvet Intense Long-Wear Lip Colour:

Packaging: From the outside, it is like all other Chanel lipsticks… A glossy black box packaging with all details written on it. Inside, is the bullet… With no close. The black plastic casing covers the entire bullet, and it just slides in and out at the end, and closes with a light click. Very innovative, very modern.

Shade: While Chanel describes this as a magenta shade, I feel it is a dark berry pink shade with cool undertones. The bullet does look violet on first glance, but on my lips, I do not get the violet shade. Rather, it is a deep raspberry pink on my non pigmented lips. Despite being cool toned, it does not clash with my warm toned skin, but actually brightens up my complexion immediately after application.

Pigmentation: It may be applied by just patting on lips and sheering it out with your finger, to get a sheer wash of color. Or, you may go full out and swipe it on your lips. One single swipe gives full coverage, it is that pigmented!

Texture: The texture, like all other Allure Velvets, is smooth and glides on lips effortlessly. The finish is matte, but the feel is not the dryish kind… It is slightly satiny to velvet like finish. It feels quite comfortable on the lips. It is not hydrating, but not drying either. In fact, it is moisturising, and quite forgiving on dry lips. It does not sit in lip lines. It is quite easy to apply, despite being a dark shade. It does not feather or bleed at all.

Lasting Time: It lasts on my lips for 6 + hours with light snacks in between. With heavy meals too, it leaves a dark stain on lips.
