I have been wanting to try Chanel nail colours for a very long time and finally, I bought a few colours from their Le Vernis range. 🙂 The brand is so iconic and the products are so luxurious that I feel every penny is justified. The counter at Nordstrom had all the shades in the menu but, I got Shantung and Vamp 18 for myself. Today, I am reviewing the shade Shantung which is a beautiful raspberry red colour. So, let’s get started.
LE VERNIS by CHANEL: A long-wear, protective nail polish with lasting shine designed to make vibrant colours dazzle. Long-wearing, extra-fine and ultra-shiny, each coat offers an absolutely even and lacquered result.
How to use:
After washing your hands, file your nails and remove particles with a small KABUKI BRUSH. Wipe your nails clean with a cloth. Apply the BODY EXCELLENCE HAND CREAM. Push back your cuticles at the base and sides of the nail with an orange stick, then remove oil from the nail surface using a cotton pad moistened with nail polish remover. Apply a thin layer of LA BASE. Then apply the first layer of LE VERNIS, followed by a second coat – as thick as the first, for a more vivid colour.
My Experience with Chanel Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour – #508 Shantung:
The packaging is luxe just like how a designer brand should be. The nail polish comes packaged in an individually wrapped cardboard box which bears all the product related information on it. The box is black in colour with gold borders and white prints on them. The nail polish bottle is made of glass with a rectangular black cap and the Chanel logo is engraved on the top of the cap. This cap has to be opened to reveal the real twist open cap which has the brush attached to it. The brush is different from the other nail polishes which I have used and honestly, I didn’t like the brush at all.
The colour is a beautiful raspberry red that has the perfect amount of red and pink tones in it. The brand says it’s the new formula that works just like a gel nail polish and since it’s a Chanel nail polish, I wanted to test its resilience and quality. But, I have a lot of ridges on my nails and having a good base coat is a must for me to get a glossy finish on my nails.
Now, coming to the nail polish brush, it is a bit thick which spreads out while applying the nail polish and I found this relatively difficult to use when compared to the OPI and Essie ones. The formula has no distinct smell to it.
I applied the first coat on my nails without any base coat underneath and the result was quite good and non-streaky. The second coat made the colour richer and darker by levelling the nail bed ridges. The drying time is 5-7 minutes depending on the number of coats you use. The results are ultra-glossy just as promised. The nail polish lasted on my nails for 4-5 days without chipping after which the tip starts to wear out. I am glad to have tried this iconic nail polish and have one more review coming up soon 🙂
