My experience with Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet – 50 Beige
I had no access to Chanel when I was in Kolkata but now that am in Chennai, I thought why not get something from this brand as this is much raved in the beauty world. Pretty much a new launch, Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet has already made a mark in the list of top foundations all over the world. I went to the store to get the matte version as my skin has become super oily, all thanks to the climate of Chennai, but came back with this. Read no further to know why.
The SA at the store was a lovely girl with wonderful product knowledge and she had answers to all my queries. After a long time I have come across such a trained SA, kudos to Chanel. The store is beautifully lit and the makeup station was something I had never come across. It had so many light options that you could actually see how you look like in different light settings. Quite a new experience for me.
Moving on to the product, I requested the SA to apply the matte Lumiere on half of my face and the perfection Lumiere on the other half. Very professionally with clean hands and brush she did her job and my first reaction was WOW! Still I wanted to be double sure and hence I decided to take a stroll in the mall before indulging in the buy. Funny but true, I roamed around in the mall with two different foundations on my face. (#things people do before buying foundation)
The perfection Lumiere was “oh so perfect” and my husband was like “oh you are glowing (but only half of your face)”. I got the cue; I had to pick the perfection Lumiere. The packaging is not like typical glass bottle foundation packaging which has its pros and cons. You are not able to see how much is left; on the other hand it is so lightweight that it is perfect for travelling. The small nozzle allows to control the amount of product you dispense for each use.
Texture-wise it is thin fluid, very much like the Mac face and body foundation. I take a dollop of the foundation on the back of my hand and use my fingers to blend in. It spreads really well and gives enough time to blend on the face. It has stayed on my face till I have removed it. One thing I must mention that the texture is so liquid that I tend to go overboard sometimes. As I prefer a medium coverage, applying one layer is just fine for me. You can build it up without feeling cakey or anything sticky slimy on the face.
The foundation has never oxidized on me and I have worn it in the worst of climate. You can trust me on this as I am experiencing the hottest and the most humid phase of the weather. Word of caution is that you cannot wear it alone as this might make your face look bland. You have to have a dash of blush or a winged liner or a pretty lip color to add in to the dimension of your makeup. No one wants to look like a flat top kabuki brush.
Summing it up for you,
Pros of Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet – 50 Beige
• Long wearing
• Right texture
• Blends well
• Does not move once set
• Does not oxidize
• Little goes long way
Cons of Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet – 50 Beige
Added benefits of shopping in high ends is that they give you choice of sample. I had to be alive (Jomol threatened me that if I get the tester lipstick sample she will kill me), so I opted for the mascara and the super awesome SA threw in the applicator which has natural and synthetic bristles packed in one.
