Product Purchased by IMBB
How have you all been? I have been missing you all, but had indeed hit a writer’s block….plus was really busy in my professional work. And I was also busy experiencing the pleasures of a few products, before penning down the reviews about them. IMBB has again been so kind to me, and has sponsored two products for me. I have put my head, deep into Chanel, NARS, and Bobbi Brown this past month, and now feel brave enough to tell you my stories about these products. From the brand Chanel, I have bought four new lipsticks (besides a few older ones). I was really intrigued about the new Ultra Hydrating lipsticks launched by Chanel (two of them have been gifted by IMBB – the shades Ina and Roussy) for experimenting. Apart from that, I was lusting aftertheir Revierrre Parisienne Spring 2015 Collection, and got the shades La Romanisque and Etourdie also from that collection. I have also been delving into NARS skin care and really liking those as well, so will review those very soon. And who can forget Bobbi Brown and their recently opened store in Mumbai. Well, I gifted myself a whole lot of goodies from that brand, and will review some of them very soon for you all 🙂
From the brand Chanel, let me first admit, that I am more of a fan of the Rouge Allure Velvet lipsticks, rather than the Rouge Coco ones. But having heard that they had changed the formula of the Rouge Coco lipsticks, and were launching so many new shades (29 in total; 25 new ones), I was definitely intrigued. IMBB has kindly made it possible for me to satisfy my urge, and I am reviewing the shade Ina today.
The reinvented Rouge Coco is more expressive than ever, in a new formula and vibrant colour spectrum, with shade names inspired by Coco Chanel’s closest friends. The bright lip colour feature an exclusive complex with Jojoba and Mimosa Butters, Sunflower Wax and silicone for lasting hydration and luminous results.
My Experience with Chanel Rouge Coco Ultra Hydrating Lip Colour #450 Ina:
Before starting the actual review, I want to tell you all, that these are launched as ultra-hydrating lipsticks and one should definitely keep that concept in mind before buying these. With ultra hydration, you will never get ultra pigmentation, so I guess that reveals it all to you. These are not very pigmented lipsticks. Hence, you may easily get the darkest shade of each group, if your aim is good pigmentation.
The new “Ultra Hydration” range has five families of shades – named as Family of nu*es, Lovers for Red shades, Muses for the corals, Best Friends for the pinks and Artists for the plum shades. Each shade is named after a special person in the life of Coco Chanel. The shade “Ina” is a plum-based shade and belongs to the group of Artists. Ina is the second lightest shade of the group, and there are four more plum-based shades to choose from.
Packaging: The packaging is the same as the previous “Rouge Coco” lipsticks. They come in a shiny, black box packaging, which has all the details mentioned on it. The lipstick inside has a black opaque cover, with the shade name mentioned at the bottom. The lipstick case per se is simple, classy, with a gold band at the centre and the Chanel insignia on it. It encases the bullet within.
Shade: The shade is a transition type of shade, between the pinks and the plums. It is a cool-toned fuchsia to plum-based shade, and applies quite light on the lips. It has shimmer in it, but these are not gritty or irritating at all. In fact, these shimmers really give a very glamorous shine to the shade. It has the same old Chanel fragrance, which the brand puts in all its products, which I personally do not mind at all.
Pigmentation: It is not a much pigmented shade. One swipe is quite sheer, and you will need at least 3-4 swipes to let it show to the full intensity on your lips. Pigmented lips may need more swipes. However, the color is quite buildable, and you may increase the intensity based on your choice.
Formula: This belongs to the ultra hydrating group of lipsticks. This lipstick glides very smoothly on the lips, and feels very light weight. It does not bleed at all and can be easily used to build up to a medium coverage. It has a moist shine to it, mainly because of the shimmer particles in it. It does not dry out the lips, but it is not moisturising too. I may say, that it is comfortable, but by no stretch is it ultra hydrating!!!
Staying Power: With a cup of coffee or such, it lasts for 4-5 hours on my lips. A meal will definitely rub it off completely. However, it fades uniformly, and does not leave a shimmery mess on the lips. It does not leave any significant stain after fading.
