Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Bond Girl Luminous Modern-Matte Lipstick Review

Hi everyone,

I seem to be reviewing a traditional lipstick product after ages! That’s because I haven’t bought one in a long time, I have been so taken with the liquid lipsticks and have been giving them all my love, but when I had a chance to pick Charlotte Tilbury stuff, I couldn’t help but pick a couple of lipsticks from her range and will be reviewing them for you. First up today is Bond Girl – “naam hi kafi hai!” 😉

Product Details (from the website):
I’ve always loved creating a fuller lip effect with matte lipsticks on campaign shoots. Whereas gloss contours, a matte finish can flatten the lips for a wider shape.” — Charlotte Tilbury. Create the illusion of fuller, wider lips with my Matte Revolution – for lips that look lit from within. It’s a trick I use all the time on photo shoots, using lighting trickery, pigments and powders, and have been working for years to re-create this effect in the slick of one lipstick. Now, everyone can create this full, matte lip effect in a long-lasting, buildable, hydrating formula – it’s the matte lipstick of the future! Exclusively enriched with Lipstick Tree extract which protects lips and is a natural anti-oxidant, and Orchid Extract which soothes and hydrates for a soft, buildable cashmere finish. Available in 10 modern-matte shades for all skin tones – 1 for each of my signature looks. Bond Girl is a chic natural berry for sultry and alluring beauties from Halle Berry and Barbara Bach to Olga Kurylenko.

My Experience with Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Bond Girl Luminous Modern-Matte Lipstick:

Packaging:  The statement rose gold case of the lipstick is quite stunning – very luxurious. It has the regular twist-up mechanism. It comes packaged in the trademark Charlotte Tilbury cardboard cover.

Color:  I had been wanting to try the Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks for a while. I wasn’t too keen on the “Kissing” formula and wanted to try the mattes instead. My final shortlist from the collection was this one – Bond Girl and Walk of Shame. Both the shades looked pretty and kind of neutral. Finally, I went with Bond Girl – still not sure whether it was because of the actual colour or the shade name! Come on! Who doesn’t want to be a Bond Girl? Especially if Pierce Brosnan is the Bond, James Bond! I digress… Back to the shade, “Bond Girl” is a muted neutral shade – more like a rosy plum – very sophisticated, easy to carry off. It’s a lovely shade which will go with any look – will not clash with your eye makeup and would work very well for office goers as well.

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Bond Girl Lipstick bullet

The bullet of these lipsticks is shaped differently – refer to the pics, it has a flat surface. Apparently, it’s supposed to mimic the strokes of a brush, so it’s easy to apply directly from the bullet and get precise application – without the need of a brush.

Texture: The texture is nice – it is light, smooth, velvety – not fully matte – more like something between matte and satin or the nouveau/modern matte which is mushrooming all over the place. It’s extremely comfortable on the lips. There is no hint of any dryness or tug or pull.

Pigmentation: It’s got decent pigmentation, but you do need to build it up to get the colour of the bullet. Thankfully, the colour is buildable.

Lasting Power:  The product lasted about 4-5 hours or so on my lips. So, yes, it doesn’t have too much longevity. Also, there is a bit of transference since the formula is not too matte and borders on satin. It’s suggested to apply this over the CT Lip Cheat shade Pillow Talk (CT Lip liner), I tried that as well. So, I am in a position to share the wear time and look with you. Yes, with the lip liner under it, the lipstick shade seems more “together” and you don’t need to build it up. Also, the wear time increases by a couple of hours. However, I did feel that post the “4-hour mark,” it felt a tad bit drying on the lips.

My rating of the product is on its own merit – not in combination with the lip liner because it doesn’t seem fair to judge the product based on its use with another product. Also, everyone who wants to try the lipsticks, may not necessarily want to buy the lip liners as well.

Pros of Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Bond Girl Luminous Modern-Matte Lipstick:

  • A beautiful sophisticated muted shade.
  • Lightweight velvety matte texture.
  • Decent pigmentation.
  • Extremely comfortable to wear – not drying at all.
  • Easy to apply from the bullet.
  • The lipstick applies smoothly – no tug or pull!
  • No feathering or bleeding.
  • Luxe packaging.
  • Decent staying power.

Cons of Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Bond Girl Luminous Modern-Matte Lipstick:

  • Some may find the wear time to be low – especially since we generally expect better wear time from Matte lipsticks.

IMBB Rating:
A 4/5 product.
Charlotte Tilbury products are iconic. I’m happy that I was finally able to get my hands on a few and have not been disappointed by them. Due to some retailers, they are now easily available in India – almost within the week.
Do I Recommend Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Bond Girl Lipstick?
Yes, I think it’s a gorgeous shade and a good formula. Do you NEED it in your life? Not necessarily. Its’ not a must-have product. There are other equally good options in the market, at this price point. However, if you do splurge on these – you will not be disappointed! I will be sharing another shade with you soon, from her newly-launched Hot Lips collection.
