China Glaze Nail Polish in Adventure Red-y Review

China Glaze Nail Polish in Adventure Red-y

Hey there!

My fascination for nail paints started at a very young age. I loved seeing my mom’s red talons and hoped that I could let my nails grow that long someday. Consider them idle thoughts of a tethered Convent educated girl. Neverthless, I began to grow my nails in Class 12th and I was labelled a trouble maker for the same. Crazy Convent cats. Only in college did my love affair for nail paints begin in earnest. I loved wearing nail paints in vibrant hues and when the nail art craze came on, I was in seventh heaven!

The nail paint I am going to review is a very strange nail paint, read on to know why.

My take on China Glaze Nail Polish in Adventure Red-y:

First off, please excuse that black ring on my index fingernail it’s my Voter Mark that refuses to go. I have a feeling that my nail is permanently stained and I’ll need to let the mark grow out. *sigh*

This nail paint is something I purchased for my mom. She loves to flaunt her red talons, and I much rather prefer more muted reds. But this red was so very odd!

I swatched this product before giving it to mom, because then I might forget to do so. I was painting my nails in college (between classes! :p) and I started whining to my friends that the nail paint is “too red”. Used to my theatrics, they just shrugged their shoulders and told me to get on with it. The overwhelming “red-ness” of my nails really irritated me and I averted my eyes everytime I caught sight of my nails. But after a few hours, I looked at my nails and it was looking considerably darker. I was left flabbergasted and a few hours later, the colour settled to a cool oxblood red.

I thought that maybe I was the exception to the rule and asked one of my friends to use the same nail paint. And darn! It was the same case again! I don’t understand why this happens but it’s a little irritating for those who purchase it as a true blood red.

The formula on the polish is a bit on the thicker side and is an almost single coater, but I prefer to use two myself. It doesn’t chip for almost a week and minor tip wear begins on the third day.

The swatches of this product are after 6 hours of application. The colour on application is a ruby red, which then transforms to this.

• Very flattering colour for all skin tones
