I LOVE FRANCE! I used to stay in France and I speak French since I was a child, so I am very much close to the French culture. And if there is something you cannot avoid but love when you are into the French culture, it is “Bread” and “Cheese” ! I make French bread all the time at home, Here is the recipe that I follow and pictures of my French bread home baked : )

Ingredients
• 1 cup water
• 2.5 cups of flour
• 1 tablespoon of sugar
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 1/2 teaspoons yeast
• 1 egg yolk
• 1 tablespoon water

Procedure:
1. Pour the 1 cup water, flour, sugar, salt and yeast and mix them together.
2. When you have made the above into a dough, put it in a greased bowl, turning to coat all sides.
3. Cover it and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes.
4. Punch down dough.
5. Put flour on a surface.
6. Cut into 2 parts.
7. Make them into long baguette shape.
8. Make diagonal slashes across the loaves.
9. Let it rise for half an hour.

10. Pre-heat the oven at 190 Degrees celcius.
11. Mix egg yolk with 1 tablespoon of water and brush it over the loaves, this is just to give the loaves a golden texture. Non-vegetrians can skip this part.
12. Bake for 15-25 minutes or until golden.

Its very easy and not time consuming like making Iranian Barbari naan.

    I remember when I was little we used to buy baguettes from Carrefour (then Continental) which were rock hard (but we used to buy them any way! :P)

    1. sweetheart .. if u want it hard then dont use the the egg wash.. and vice versa, if u want it soft, use little bit of egg wash.. not to much or it will be misery.. and also dont forget to oil the tray well otherwise it will get stuck..

  2. O no, i don’t have grill oven. Whenever i see such oven recipes i feel like buying one. And my husband brought home a Solo model and is expecting cookies and cakes. :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:
