A while back, I had reviewed the amazing Ciate Glitter Flip in the shade “Iconic,” which had truly blown me away. Today, I will review another shade from the Glitter Flip line but the former shade having set such high expectations for me, this particular shade didn’t reach that same hight of awesomeness. Read on to know more about my experience on the shade “Infamous.”
A transforming glitter liquid lipstick in a metallic matte hue. Simply press lips together and watch as metallic matte liquid lipstick magically transforms into a no-mess, dazzling, multidimensional glitter lip—in a fraction of the time of a traditional glitter lip look. The stay-put formulation is non-drying and totally comfortable, and will last all night with no need for retouching. It is formulated without parabens, sulfates, phthalates.
My Experience with Ciate London Glitter Flip Metallic Glitter Lip Infamous:
Packaging: The liquid lipstick comes in a beautiful tube with a glittery cap. The glitter cap is sealed so it feels smooth like the rest of the tube which is a huge plus as it does not leave chunky glitter on your hands and in your purse. The wand has a curve to it, which is fantastic as the pointed tip helps you get a sharp lip line and you can use the curved dip to hug your lip when it comes to filling it.
Shade and Pigmentation: “Infamous” is a very pretty everyday rosy-mauve shade which will be a perfect MLBB shade for our desi skin tone. I actually prefer the non-glitter version of this shade much more than the glittery version which is a complete contradiction to why I bought this glittery lip product in the first place. Once you press your lips together, you get a beautiful lip color with flecks of silvery glitter throughout. While the look of glitter does not pop as much as it does in the shade “Iconic,” which is a black base. In this particular shade, it is a very demure look which some might actually prefer. I felt it kind of lacked the dimension and the beauty I got from “Iconic” which had choke full of multicolor glitter, while in this liquid lipstick, it’s mostly silver which makes it look flat. The pigmentation is outstanding – 1 swipe = full opaque color, no complaints here!
Consistency: The consistency is neither too thick nor too fluid. It is definitely on the thinner side, so the wand slips as you glide it on your lips and can be difficult to control especially with deeper darker shades which require utmost precision.
Performance and feel on lips: What makes this the most innovative product and worth the hype against any “DIY glitter lip” you try? Well, first and foremost, this is glitter suspended in liquid lipstick, so you apply it and let it dry for 1 minute (this is key) and when you press your lips and VOILA!, the lipstick transforms before your very eyes. No fuss and no mess of dealing with loose glitter!
This particular shade did not go on patchy at all. You do not feel any glitter grittiness on your lips. The glitter does not transfer anywhere on your face. As with any liquid lipstick, it does dry completely transfer proof and kiss proof. It feels super comfortable, neither too dry nor hydrating, just like a regular liquid lipstick.
Staying Power: This is a fantastic long-wear liquid lipstick. I have worn this for 6-7 hours, there was some fading on the inner part of my lips after I had some snacks and drinks, but for the most part, it was intact. I believe it would even survive a full meal provided you are not a sloppy eater nor having food which is too oily. Doing touch-ups on an existing layer is difficult and the best thing to do would be to wipe it all clean and apply all over again which I don’t mind doing as I get to see the magic all over again 😀
Overall, while I do really like this product for the innovation and being one of first brands to come out with something like this, there are some shades I would give an upper hand to, in this case, it’s the shade “Iconic,” but for those who wanted to tread the safe zone, this shade is a perfect pick. I will recommend it.
