Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser with Cottonseed Review

Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser with Cottonseed

By Rasshi N.

Hi everyone,

Today I am going to be reviewing the Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser with Cottonseed for normal to combination skin.

Where did I come across this product?

While visiting Clarins in Selfridges, the SA recommended it to me.

Product Claims: Refreshing cleansing mousse eliminates impurities, make-up and excess oil while respecting skin’s natural moisture balance. Comforting Coconut extract nourishes, softens and boosts skin’s radiance. Soothing formula neutralises the drying effects of hard water. Rinses easily with cool water.

Price: £19.00/Rs. 1913.75 for 125ml

Ingredients: Gypsophila extract: helps create a fine, lightweight cleansing foam. Cottonseed : softens. Bio-Ecolia, extracted from natural sugars, helps to preserve the skin’s natural moisture balance.

My Skin Type: I have oily skin, prone to pimples and I have highly sensitive skin that only likes some products or else all hell breaks loose.

My experience with Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser with Cottonseed

I used to use the Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser with Tamarind for Combination to oily skin religiously, before I started using my Himalaya Neem face wash after a trip back to India. However when I was shopping in London for my lotion at Clarins in Selfridges, the SA suggested I use this face wash since my acne had settled down.

It is a white creamy mousse cleanser with a very gentle smell, unlike the tamarind face wash, this one did not have any micro breads for gentle exfoliation to the skin. I first used it in the night with warm water, my skin felt fresh, squeaky clean and soft and supple. It felt similar to how it felt while using the Tamarind cleanser by Clarins.

However, unfortunately after using it for 3-4 days, I had to stop using this face wash since it resulted in me breaking out and I acquired some slight redness on my cheeks. Like I mentioned before, my skin is very particular with the type of products I use on it and does not like experimentation very much. I think it would be better for normal skin rather than oily skin.

Pros of Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser with Cottonseed

• The rich and creamy texture of the mousse.
• The fresh and clean squeaky feeling post washing.
• Easy to wash off.
• Reduces dullness of the face.

Cons of Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser with Cottonseed

• Its a bit pricey.
• It broke me out.

Would I buy Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser with Cottonseed again?

No, I would not since it did not suit my skin type due to its oily texture, but is worth the try for Normal or Combination skin!

    1. Lisha, if you are more on the dry side than oily it might not break you out cause even my sister has similar skin type (combination- but a bit more dryer) and its fine on her face. 🙂

  1. Thats said for a product from clarins to turn out like that. I have sensitive skin too and have to be very careful while choosing skin products. Great review 🙂

  2. I was lucky with this one… I have combination skin but this did’nt break me out.. I won’t be buying this again as it did not do any wonders for me with the given price tag….
