Clarisonic Mia 2 Skin Cleansing System Review

Most of us must be knowing about the Clarisonic skin cleansing system by now. Right now, they come in 4 different forms:

1. Clarisonic Plus – $225
2. Clarisonic Aria – $199
3. Clarisonic Mia 2 – $149
4. Clarisonic Mia – $119

They all have a little bit of feature difference between each other. I didn’t want the body brush option, which is supported only in the Plus and Aria models. Mia 2 has the 2-speed and T-timer (we will see that in a bit) option over Mia model. So, I found Mia 2 to be perfect fit for my need and budget.

My Experience with Clarisonic Mia 2 Skin Cleansing System:

I don’t even remember from when I was eyeing this product, maybe for more than 2 years. There are two reasons for why I took my own time to decide on whether or not I really need to add this to my skin care tools.  One was the price and the other one was that I already owned some tools similar to this. I also had a tough time deciding which version of Clarisonic I should go for and finally settled for Mia 2. One fine day, I made my mind to buy this, when the online website had it on easy pay option (I can pay in 3-5 installments instead of paying at once).

Clarisonic Mia 2 comes with a handle and a detachable brush head. By default, sensitive brush head is included with all models. Some websites might sell the kit with more than one brush head. There are 5 kinds of brush heads for face such as Sensitive, Normal, Delicate, Deep Pore and Acne, apart from a body brush. Note that you cannot use the body brush with Clarisonic Mia or Mia 2 models. The body brush is designed to be used only with Clarisonic Pro, Plus and Aria Models.

Once you fix the brush head on the handle and push the start button, the inner rim of the brush kind of vibrates by making a small left and right movement. In Mia 2, you get 2 speed options.  By pushing the arrow button on the handle, you can choose higher or lower speed. Personally, I find higher speed to be better and use that speed setting all the time.

Getting complicated huh ? 🙂 Its simple. All I need to do is, fix the brush head on the handle and wet the brush head, apply any cleanser either on the brush head or face and push the start button on handle and start using it. Make sure to use gentle pressure, allowing easy movement of the brush head. Once you turn it on, the brush will vibrate for 1 minute with 3 pauses in 20-20-10-10 seconds. It is just an indication to use 20 seconds for forehead, 20 seconds for nose and chin and 10 seconds for each cheeks. Yes, that’s the T-timer option. I think this T-timer thing is not very appealing to me as I always use more than 1 minute as I use it on my neck as well.

They advice to replace brush head every 3 months for better cleansing result. I use it on alternate days. Since I don’t use it on a daily basis, I’m still using after 3 months time. Next time when I order replacement brush, I want to try something other than the sensitive one.

I have used it with many cleansers, foaming and non-foaming, and it works just fine with everything. I have been using it for more than 3 months now and I will list down the pros and cons of the product.

Pros of Clarisonic Mia 2 Skin Cleansing System:

• Very gentle on skin (I have tried only the sensitive brush that comes with the kit).
• Makes skin super soft to touch from day one.
• Texture and tone of skin improves over long term use (more than 2 months).
• Can be used with any cleanser, foaming and nonfoaming.
• Waterproof handle. A very good feature, so it can be used in shower.
• I can totally skip face scrub as long as I use this regularly.

Cons of Clarisonic Mia 2 Skin Cleansing System:

• Expensive.
• Once charged, can use for only 20 minutes. That is 10 times for me as I use it for 2 minutes per use. You turn it on to use it in shower and it wouldn’t work 🙁 It does give indication when the charge is low. So, do remember to charge then.
• Does not help in removing black/white heads completely, but it helps to reduce them.

Recommendation:

This is not a miracle machine. Just a better way to keep your skin clean and healthy. I can put it in this way. If you pamper your skin a lot with various processes and procedures at home/salon, then you may really not need this. If you are a person who doesn’t hit the skin specialist or a parlour very often, you would benefit more from this. I took my own time to buy this. You can take your own time too. Hope this review was helpful to someone who wants to buy this 🙂
