My Experience with Clinique 01 Hefty Highlight Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight:
Let’s begin with the packaging of the product. The highlighter comes in the form of big fat retractable chubby stick. The twist up base works pretty smoothly. The stick is pale pink in color with silver base and cap. The large cap fits nicely but does not make any ‘click’ while closing. So, it’s necessary to fit the cap nicely, else it may come off. The stick bears the brand’s tagline along with the shade name written on it with silver fonts. This chubby stick comes housed in a basic white and green colored Clinique packaging, which bears almost all necessary details about the product like its description, ingredients list, shelf life & almost everything. Overall, the packaging is nice and travel friendly.
I am still somewhere between amateur and a perfectionist when it comes to highlighting and contouring. But, I am a die-hard fan of those contoured and chiseled faces. So, I decided to get these chubby sticks from Clinique. The shade “Hefty Highlight” is a pale pinkish highlighter with loads of silver shimmers in it. The shimmers give it lovely silver white sheen to the skin. The highlighter stick comes with just one shade. But, the choice of just one shade is quite limiting and a pinkish highlighter will not suit a wide variety of the Indian skin tones. It will look whitish on deeper skin tones. It will suit fair skin tones exclusively. Luckily this shade suits my skin tone well. The highlighter gives a subtle sheen to the skin without looking it over the top. The luminosity looks so nice on the skin. It is decently pigmented. One can build up the color as required. At last, all you will get is a subtle satiny glow.
The texture is very similar to a balm. It is soft and creamy. It glides so smoothly on to the skin, almost like butter. It does not have give any heavy or sticky feel. It is very moisturizing for combination to oily skin. Hence, it makes my skin slightly oily upon application. So, it suggests that it is best suited for normal to dry skin types and it is not meant for my skin type. The brand suggests using it directly on bare skin, which I never prefer. But, the application of this highlighter on top of my foundation becomes tricky. Though, it looks very natural for a couple of hours but it emphasizes my skin pores after a few hours. I simply apply a few dots on the places I want to highlight and blend them well with a sponge or synthetic brush. The formula is so creamy and easy to blend that I can even use my fingers to do the job effortlessly. I absolutely adore the way it blends into my skin. Though, the stick is easy to use but still the chubby shape makes it a little difficult to apply it in a precise manner. So, I prefer applying it using a brush.
The lasting power is not as I expected it to be. It stays for some 3-4 hours only with a little fading. The brand claims it to be a longwearing formula. But, this highlighter does not live up to the claims.
Overall, I like the product but the formula is not meant for my skin type.
