Clinique All About Shadow Quad- On Safari Review

Clinique All About Shadow Quad- On Safari

Hello everyone!

This is my first product from Clinique. I have always been in awe of their lipsticks but after seeing lot’s of reviews on IMBB, my heart diverted to other stuff from the brand. A couple of months ago, Sleek Makeup launched their “Divine” palette which is all about jungle greens and neutral brown. The moment I saw it, I fell in love with the colors but I still don’t own it. So when my friend/colleague told me that she will be picking up some Clinique stuff in her USA trip, I asked her to bring me some too. My Clinique All About Eyeshadow Quad is one of them and I picked it up in the shade On Safari. Let’s take a ride of this safari.

My take on Clinique All About Shadow Quad- On Safari:

The packaging:
This simple yet elegantly beautiful quad comes in pure white packaging, made with quality plastic material and glazy finish surface. It houses one sponge applicator and a 2.5”x1.5” size mirror with four eyeshadow pans. The quad closes tightly and is travel safe with convenience.

Shade range:
Starting from extreme right shade of the quad, the first shade is a jungle green shade with barely visible golden shimmer. On swatching, it truly resembles a matte finish shade. Perfect for lid area and creasing, this is such a pretty green to steal your heart in the first glimpse. The second shade adjacent to the jungle green is a lemon grass shade. The shade resembles to unripe lemon’s peel. With infinitely fine golden shimmer, it settles with satin finish. It is a light shade, typically used on tear duct but can also be versatile used on lid with the next shade on crease, which is the toast shade. Toast is a copper brown shade with golden sheen, the most ideal shade for crease application. Last is the buttered, which is a crème shade with silvery sheen for highlighting brow bone. The website describes the quad as ‘Goldens to greens’.

Texture and finish of eye shadows:
The texture is extremely soft and smooth. The eyeshadows are really finely milled and the satiny effect due to golden sheen is ideal and controlled. No gritty particles. No visible shimmer, just the finely milled golden particles make the shades buttered, toast and lemon grass finish as satin shades. Safari finishes in matte finish. They are really buttery when swatched and blend like a dream with zero fall-out. Neither any chunks break when I try them with sponge applicators.

Pigmentation:
Pigmentation is awesome. Safari is very good at pigmentation, lemon grass is ideally pigmented, toasted makes you crazy in one swipe and even buttered won’t disappoint you. The swatches are taken without primer because primers act as catalysts; so it always depends which primer you are using. I have used a separate eyeshadow applicator brush to take the swatches because sponge applicators pick up lots of product, resulting in darker swatches and one can’t actually predict the amount of effort and number of strokes required for the color to show up. These are one swipe swatches.
Longevity:
The shades lasted 5 hours on my eyelids, which aren’t too oily in nature. With primer, they last 7-8 hours atleast, depending on primer and humidity levels. The shades don’t crease and stays in place.

Applicator & Mirror:
I like the mirror, it is of high quality and the sponge applicator is honestly too good. It is silk soft and picks up right amount of product and blends it like a professional brush. The embossed Clinique label on the brush looks very cute to me.
