Clinique Anti-Blemish Spot Treatment Gel Review

I’m a fan of the Clinique Anti-Blemish solutions range, and this little gem has been by far the best product out of their range. I would say this is a must have product in the makeup bag of anyone who suffers from spots and blemishes.

You can find Clinique counters in Lifestyle, Shopper Stop etc. Their products are of a higher end type, and range from about Rs 1000 to 3000 each.

Clinique will often have a ‘bonus time’ special offer on. You usually need to buy 2 products and be gifted a make-up bag with lots of Clinique mini’s in and usually a full size product. I prefer to buy Clinique products when this offer is running as it’s a great way to try out new products.

The product claims and my Experience

Clinique Anti-Blemish Spot Treatment Gel is aimed at targeting spots and blemishes, or spots that you can feel starting to form. It’s a quick drying gel and promotes healing and soothes irritation. The full size product is 15 ml, while this does seem small the gel lasts ages as you only need a tiny amount for each spot.

I’ve had mine for over 10 months and it’s still 50% full, and unfortunately I have to use it quite a lot, so this is a great value product.

The gel has a very slight smell to it, similar to astringent but it’s not too strong and overpowering. Clinique Anti Blemish Spot Treatment Gel product is 100% fragrance free so I can only assume this smell consists of the chemicals used in it. The gel dries within about half a minute, and you may feel the spot starting to get a bit dry and tight. If you look closely in the mirror you can see the spot has a light sheen in it, the gel dries and as a result the spot is covered with a light film.

The gel is great! on my face for a quick fix, in 24 hours the pimple is almost gone, and as I will often get big red nasty spots on my shoulders and chest area, the type you can feel under your skin and are painful. I immediately start using this Clinique gel on the area and the spot doesn’t really have a chance to become a full spot, it does start to appear, but within 2-3 days it’s clearly starting to disappear.

At the moment I’ve had lots of red nasty spots around my shoulders, which is where I usually get them, so this gel has been vital in fighting these off. Most of the spots didn’t ever have a chance to surface and the small angry lumps are already disappearing, and I only use this product on a morning and an evening!

I use this one on my upper body to fight blemishes because I had tried Clinique anti-blemish spray that I thought would be just as Fantabulous but ended up being a disappointment.

Clinique Anti blemish Spot treatment gel contains Salicylic acid, which is no surprise as it’s often found in spot treatment products as it acts as an anti-septic and an anti-inflammatory, this is also why you notice a slight dryness of the spot as salicylic acid causes dryness, and so this product should not be used all over your face.

It comes around Rs: 1050 for the full 15ml size and it lasts AGES. I cannot stress that highly enough, you only need a tiny amount per application and I would guess this will last you at least a year.

Its currently my pseudo HG spot treatment gel, but after reading the review on Clarins one I would give it a try next before coming to this one, as the only thing that puts me off is the fevicol like texture of it under make up or plain sun block. Also I loved that Clarins had the idea of a double tube.

It really is worth the price tag; I haven’t owned such a good spot treatment gel before and really is a must if you want to fight off those angry red spots. But stay aware, the Clinique claim that its transparent under or over makeup is a big fat lie πŸ˜€

  1. Deb, you have to tell me when this bonus time is there in Clinique..love the idea of trying new products πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ This is a must-have I think for us acne-prones πŸ˜€

One day I went there specifically to buy the 3 step system..I just needed to check my skin for the correct type thats all And I was all set to buy then and there..But the way the SA behaved..as if everyone goes to their counter for freebies..

That was a point when I just left without buying..But luckily got my skin checked..Im type 3 πŸ™‚

                What abt u?

                  1. Yes Deb..we will buy the whole franchise..the 3 of us…and rename it Bengalurunique or something dumb like that..but errr…I do like their DDMG..so we shall keep that πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

                2. Am type 3 too….glad to know I wasn’t the only one Clinique didnt seem worthy of samples. I was beginning to think I look like a street urchin and thats why they give me these snooty looks…you look perfectly normal and they didn’t give you samples either 😐 😐

                  1. we call ours Banglinique also

me can no longer buy clinique now i heard such behavior of those SA ladies :smug: :smug: :smug: :smug: :smug: :smug:

also not even related with me not being able to afford it anyways πŸ˜€ :smug: :smug: :smug: :smug:

i will use only use my LF prods from now on :smug: :smug: :smug: :smug: :smug:

  2. Thanks for the review Deb!
I’m currently using a glycolic acid (aha) based line for my skin, which is working wonders (touch wood).
I’ll keep this product in mind though if I start breaking out again.

    1. Devie my pleasure :-* ! And aha is just brilliant isnt it?? I was with a huge zit yesterday and i used it and the review came today and my zit is already gone

Oh if you dont mind, please do share the prods name or where to find that you are using…as i had faced severe acne for half of my life i know every little helps πŸ™‚

  3. wonderful prodect for us poor acne prone creatures!!!and yes i agree with rads on telling us about the bonus time!!!the price is on the higher side no doubt atleast for me being a poor college student!! πŸ™ πŸ™ πŸ™ πŸ™ but i guess it’ll be worth saving up for it!!!great review deb!!

    1. Sree,
If you’re short on dough be sure to check with your chemist for creams and gels with 2% salicylic acid or less. Use it to zap pimples or use a toner with salicylic acid to prevent them.

      Deb,
You can also use salicylic acid to get rid of foot calluses. Although I wouldn’t recommend using this expensive gel to do that πŸ˜›

      @ all HAPPY GANDHI JAYANTI
Remember to support Indian industries, especially handicrafts. And all natural fabrics!

      1. Happy Gandhi Jayanti to all !!!! :cake:

Sree, i know it does cost a lot, but i have to tell you mine is around 1 year with me and still not over =/ so i think it does compensate you saving for some 3 months to get it…also if you want a less expensive alternative i would say follow Devie’s tip….get a cream with salicyclic acid from the chemist, and just dot it on the blemish, and it will dry them as well…

Devie, great tip for the foot…this one i cant use cause there wont be good amount as well πŸ˜› but i will sure find a way to apply the tip…..

  4. Great review Deb    I once had backne and thought of getting this….then ended up getting something from Neutrogena instead πŸ™‚

    1. Thanks Appu, I still get some backne spots, but after ive cut my hair to ear length its been months i havent had any, i guess my long hair was one of the irritation causes as well, as i do prefer less hair and better skin i do think its just great…but some girls might not want to cut their hair πŸ˜€ if the Neutrogena one helped, please share the discovery with us πŸ˜€ :-*

      1. The most prominent cause of backne is DANDRUFF.. My doc told me that..

I took care of my dandruff and I haven’t had backne since..

        1. Hi M yes that also might be some of the cause, but i never had dundruff my whole life  :pain: :pain: :pain: :pain: I always thought it was cause of the straighting i got done….as before i had same length hair and hadnt had backne then πŸ˜₯

          1. You know wat Deb, even I always thought it was coz of the straightening I did…I got L’oreal xtenso and I have a feeling that partly contributed πŸ™

And M, I don have dandruff….so I have a strong feeling it’s the chemicals from the Xtenso πŸ™

  5. Nice Review Deb. Fortunately, my skin doesn’t need this product!! πŸ˜› *touchwood*, but some of my friends really face some serious problems with acne and blemishes. I’d definitely forward this review to them so that they can make a good choice….. πŸ˜€ and thank me later!! O:-) πŸ˜› he he

Oh BTW Good morning all and Happy Gandhi jayanti!! …only 2 more days to go for the appointment with Mr. :inlove: :inlove: :inlove: :inlove: :inlove: πŸ˜›

      1. Oh Cali thanks for reminding me of Mr :beauty: :shy: :shy: :cute: :cute: and you are so fortunate you do not have any breakouts :-* :-* …

    1. Gia thanks a lot sweetie :-* , its priceless not to have acne      and everyone deserve great skin, but ofcourse some of us are not granted this right from birth πŸ˜›

  6. nice review Deb, touchwood dont need this pdt either, but there are some other pdts I want to try from this brand and bonus time special offer (thanks for telling us) seems a good time to buy. Please do let us know when its on again coz I never heard of this before. I wonder if they have these offers at their stand-alone outlets too. I’ve not seen their counters at Shoppers Stoppe or Lifetsyle in Mumbai πŸ™‚

    1. Thanks Renuca…i believe that any Clinique outlet would offer exactly the same offers, if you just give your phone number there they give you a call to keep you updated on the offers and all…I do not know about mumbai Renu, tried to find online but couldnt πŸ™

  7. Er… I have never used a zit zapper ever before..

My most trusted zit zapper is plain Colgate toothpaste..
Just apply it on the spot at night.. By morning the zit reduces upto 50%..

It’s because of all the anti-bacterials in the toothpaste and also strong astringents.. Both of these are vital in reducing the size of spots..

      1. Ohhh you liked them? I have only used their hand lotion until now, and I did not like that…ohhhhhhh you are a Spar-haunter tooooo…yipppppeee πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

    1. @ Rads n Deb : LOL…

      Banglinique?? funny gals :rotfl: :rotfl:

Coming to the point, I feel its actually a brand’s loss in such cases..C’mon yaar. A person who cannot afford 3500 rs will dare not go into a counter to check out stuff right? If at all the staff think that by denying the customer an opportunity to test some products, they are pushing sales for the actual stuff..then sorry they are terribly mistaken.

Sadly in India, people still think in terms of “Free Stuff” :reallyangry: . I have seen store assistants in Big Bazar, More etc reluctant to give the free stuff when there is an offer or something..You know those teeny samples n such. And if we ask, they give such snooty looks..I feel like telling them..Dude..we have purchased for thousands and these samples don’t mean a thing to us :silly: ..but it is our right as a consumer. I take those things and give it to my maid or gardener lady.

      Oops..That became almost a post..

      1. I agree completely Poornima…that is exactly what I would want to tell them too :reallyangry: Anyway it was not a product I was dying to try out, but I saw recently somewhere else too that they give freebies with purchase and I have never got anything. I just thought maybe they have some kind of a range which I did not meet πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ No probs..me no Clinique crazy anyway…I got Shiseido and am loving it πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

          1. Oh pls talk Shiseido * . * i think all SA so cuties there, but never tried anything, now me gonna, what do you recomend in skin care for oily me?… πŸ˜€

            1. They have a really nice moisturizer…Shiseido Pureness Mattifying Moisturizer…am using that right now…and is good..but super expensive at 1750 :-(( You know you can get a free consultation there and they give you samples too…though I am not sure about it. Know what, next time I go there I will ask that SA if anything like that is there and let you know πŸ˜€

  8. only used their face skin stuff, not bad i would say not bad at all…will write a review πŸ˜€ never used anything from their body line though πŸ˜€
