Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation and Concealer Review

Hi Everyone,

Guess what?! Here’s another foundation review from me and that too from my favorite brand “Clinique.” To all of you out there, who are mighty disappointed with MAC foundations, I would advise you to head out to Clinique counters because I feel Clinique has much better foundations than MAC, and that’s purely my personal opinion.  On certain skin tones, MAC foundations tend to turn orangish and dark including mine.  I have sampled so many from MAC and none have worked for me, but on the other hand, Clinique foundations with their formulation, vast range of shades, and 100% allergy tested claim, have always been a winner! Initially, when Rati and Sanjeevji gave me an opportunity to pick up products for this month, I had only MAC on my mind, but as always, Clinique called out to me 😛  Read on to know more details about this unique concealer + foundation product.

Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation and Concealer

Product Description:
A foundation-and-concealer in one for a natural, beyond perfected look that lasts all day. Lightweight, moisturizing makeup covers thoroughly without clogging pores. Skin breathes comfortably, colour stays true, even through sweat and humidity. Due to the rich pigment level that enhances this flawless coverage makeup, shades may appear deeper when first applied. Once blended completely and allowed to dry, Beyond Perfecting Makeup will melt into your skin for a Beyond Perfected flawless look. A little goes a long way!

My Experience with Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation and Concealer:

As always, talking about the packaging first, this slightly thick consistency foundation comes in a sturdy glass bottle with a doe-foot wand that’s slightly tapered at the end.  This wand picks up the product nicely and since the foundation is not runny, the product does not drip around. Actually, it’s a unique wand, it’s thick (not the kind that you see in lip gloss tubes) helps on to place dots on to the face with ease.  The wand is such that it helps you to spot conceal as well as place large dots on your face.  It would not help you in blending out the foundation, you would have to use a different brush for that. I need 2 dips of the wand for my face and neck. The first layer helps to conceal flaws up to 80%, then I can go over a second time to spot conceal with the wand or for heavier coverage.  I feel happy with just one layer on; actually, with too much even and perfect coverage, I feel conscious 😛 The first layer feels very lightweight, second layer can feel a bit thick and heavy on the skin.  For day time, only a single layer would do.

I do not use any moisturizer beneath and directly use the wand to place dots all over my face and neck.  As per claims, it’s moisturizing enough on the skin.  It’s very forgiving if you have dry patches because the foundation does not cling on to dry areas.  I blend it outwards using either my fingers or the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. This brush blends the foundation thoroughly without any cakey or streaky finish.

Also, I can completely skip the setting powder, though on very hot and humid days, I pick up the setting power or pressed powder to notch up the matte look.  I get a natural, even-toned, matte finish sans the cakey or ghastly whitish cast.

There are 20 different shades available in this range and you would surely find your match.  I have found my perfect match in “18 Sand.”  I feel Clinique foundations are very forgiving as far as shades are concerned.  Even if you pick up a lighter shade, they somehow tend to adjust and blend into your own skin tone in some time.

Though dry skin may need additional moisturizing before application, I do not feel the need at all. Maybe in winters, I would need a lightweight moisturizer, but not now! and that’s great!

Emphasizing the coverage factor, it’s a medium to heavy coverage foundation, medium with first layer and heavy coverage with the second layer and so on.  For under eye areas, if you have medium dark circles, this foundation would cover up it in just one layer, however, deep dark circles may need another layer. I get my acne scars concealed with a single layer; however, on certain hyperpigmentation marks, I need to spot conceal.

It doesn’t transfer much onto the phone screens and clothes, but it does transfer – the claim that it stays throughout the day is not that true.  Clinique Even Better foundation would go all over the place, but this one does not transfer that much, but the fresh matte look does go away after 3 hours or so.

Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation and Concealer

Guess what I am gonna talk about next – it doesn’t clog pores or break out on my acne-prone sensitive skin, and super yay for that!

It does not make the face sweaty or melt down in the heat, but as the day passes, the coverage and wear does come down.  It does not oxidize like MAC foundations and I am so thankful for that.

At the end of the day, soap or face wash wouldn’t take it down completely, you would have to use a good makeup remover to take down every trace of the foundation.

Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation and Concealer

Overall, I am super happy with this foundation + concealer product, it’s a winner for me and totally worth every penny.

Would I Recommend Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation and Concealer?
Yes, to all MAC rejects 😛 Like Clinique’s Even Better Compact Foundation, I would recommend this to all.

    1. Dipti, it’s so worth the money, but the most important thing is to find your shade, only then it tends to work that well 🙂
