Clinique Black Honey A Different Nail Enamel for Sensitive Skin

Hi Beauties,

Today, I have come with a product, which has, well…..surprised me. I usually prefer pastel nail colors, and when I want a bold shade, I usually go in for a red. But, this winter, I actually wanted a different shade, something bold and dark and dangerous. Last month, on my visit to Kolkata, my eyes were immediately attracted towards this shade. I wanted to try it out. From a distance, it had appeared black, and I was a bit hesitant. However, I soon found that this was a very dark shade of burgundy; which appeared almost black. This reasoning satisfied me, and I immediately bought this shade without any more thoughts.

My Experience with Clinique Black Honey A Different Nail Enamel for Sensitive Skin:

This nail enamel range has its own base and top coats. The nail enamel comes in the standard Clinique packaging; on which all details are written. When I mean all, I really mean all. This is because, the nail enamel bottle inside does not have even an iota of information. The bottle is round shaped glass bottle, with a silver colored lid. The lid has the brand name engraved on it. In shape, it looks almost like the Maybelline Colorshow nail enamels. The brush applicator inside is a standard one, thin like any other standard nail enamel.

The nail enamel is a nice, thin liquid, which packs a lot of pigment. Even a single coat of the nail enamel gives an intense plum shade on the nails. However, one coat applies streaky, and two coats are needed for a nice, shiny, non-streaky finish. At the end of two coats, the nail enamel looks extremely dark, almost black in color. I am in total love with the shade.

The nail enamel is supposed to be free from the five-allergy causing chemicals. Clinique proposes that we touch our eyes almost 200 times a day. So, a really sensitive skin type person may have irritation of skin and eyes, with redness and watering; and might not know the cause of it. The cause may actually be your nail enamel. So , if you are facing such a problem and don’t know the cause of it, try changing your nail enamel to a non-sensitising one, like this one. It comes in a variety of shades…I saw around 12 at the counter.

But…and this is a BIG BUT!!!! During application and subsequent drying, it does get bubbles into it. The nail enamel takes more than an hour to dry and set. Even then, it gets bed sheet marks on the enamel. It gives a shiny finish; which becomes dull within two days; and this gorgeous shade becomes extremely dull looking. On top of that, it starts chipping within a day or two. The only saving grace is that it does not stain my nails yellow.

And so, now you know the reason of my surprise. In fact, I am too stunned to even be shocked by this turn of events. I just don’t know why I even bought this nail enamel. For this price, I was really expecting something more. On the name of sensitive skin; I feel these are real sub-par nail enamels. Clinique as a brand is known for its skin-friendly and extremely good skin and makeup products. The new reasoning and the 5-free claim is really admirable. But this one as a pure nail enamel is not worth the price.

Will I repurchase this Clinique Black Honey A Different Nail Enamel for Sensitive Skin?

No!!!! This one, for this price is not for me. I do not have such high sensitive skin and eyes; and I don’t think that I will spend more money for these claims. For me, this was a maistake, and an expensive one at that.
