It helps control excess oil to minimize breakouts and keep skin feeling clean.

• Purifies pores to look cleaner, smaller.
• Skin grows stronger, stays clearer, healthier.
• Dermatologist-reformulated to be comfortable, non-drying.

Clinique Clarifying Lotion #3

The Clinique Clarifying Lotion comes in 4 variants:
• Type 1: Very Dry to Dry (Green one).
• Type 2: Dry Combination (Purple).
• Type 3: Combination Oily (Pink ).
• Type 4: Oily (Blue).

Ingredients:

Clinique Clarifying Lotion

I got this a few months back; I guess the new formula was not launched by then.  The new Clinique Clarifying Lotion has buffering agents including Hyaluronic Acid, Glycerin and Trehalose .  Check more about it here.

Packaging:

Clinique Clarifying Lotion

The Clinique Clarifying Lotion comes in a sturdy, frosted plastic bottle with a green colour screw-off cap. The packaging is basic, simple, but I won’t call it functional. I wish it came with a pump type or spray type dispenser. The current packaging needs to be handled very carefully while using as you may end up dispensing more than the product you actually require or spilling it off, and it’s an expensive product and I wouldn’t like to waste even a nano portion of it.

Price:

Around INR 1200 for 200 ml and INR 2025 for 400 ml.

My Experience with Clinique Clarifying Lotion #3:

Now, there is a long underlying story about how/why I got this. 😛  Around last year, I visited the Clinique store and got the complete 3-step skin care routine pack. After a long round of questions, (a.k.a. skin analysis), the dermatologists at the Clinique Store recommended me skin type 2 products which are for dry-combination skin.  Unfortunately, the products didn’t suit me well at all.

So, When Jinal told me that Clinique Clarifying Lotion works on minimising pores, I couldn’t believe her. She insisted that I should try the one made for oily–combination skin (type 3). With crossed fingers, I got this one and I am glad that I did 🙂

The Clinique Clarifying Lotion is a pink-coloured liquid/solution. Now, don’t be confused from the term lotion :P.  This is actually a toner which you are supposed to use post washing your face.

It has a strong fragrance of alcohol which can really put you off when you use it initially, but once you use it over a period of time, you will get used to it.

The best thing which I personally like about it is that it will draw out even the smallest amount of dirt on your face, even when you have washed off your face with a cleanser. There are times when I wear a good amount of makeup and I use wipes/makeup removers/wash my face with face wash and feel my face is “squeaky clean,”  but when I use this on my face, I still see some foundation/dirt coming off on the cotton swab.

The formula is quite high on alcohol and stings my face. So, I prefer to apply my moisturiser quickly to calm my skin, but, a few days back, I read somewhere that toners without alcohol are merely hydrators and it made a lot of sense to me.

Keeping this aside, the product does work.  I had the most stubborn enlarged pores around my nose and cheeks and nothing was giving me good results. I have been using this religiously since 5-6 months and I do notice a reduction in them. I also see an overall improvement in my skin texture.

I guess, by the time I finish off this bottle, I will definitely see greater results.

I will wholeheartedly recommend this product to ladies with oily-combination skin. I am looking forward to try the new, improved formula of this which is said to have less amount of alcohol.

Pros of Clinique Clarifying Lotion #3:

  • Removes/draws out dirt/impurities from your skin completely.
  • Helps in reducing enlarged pores.
  • Exfoliates the skin without damaging it.
  • Improves skin texture when used over a period of time.

Cons of Clinique Clarifying Lotion #3:

  • Has a strong alcohol fragrance and feel in it (which has been substantially reduced in the new formulation).
  • This is not a hydrating toner.
  • Packaging should be worked upon by including a spray dispenser.
  • This is not a mild/gentle toner.
  • Expensive.
  • Clinique products are sparsely distributed in India.

    1. hhehe…visakhi, woh bhi acha hai… seee for peak summers(may-june-july) i prefer this, coz my skin gets super oily thn… TBS sea weed toner gives a slight amt of hydration too isliye dat i prefer for months after august. n FYI TBS one is much milder than this… this is like the ultimate brahamastra for oily/enlarged pores/probelmatic wali skin….

  5. Hi Nu, I tried this toner some years back, but it was too strong for my sensitive skin. Then I read that it has witch hazel and salicylic acid…both of these ingredients my derma has told me not to use in any product as it was aggravating the redness on my cheeks. But now since you say that they have reduced the alcohol content, maybe I will try a sample size of these new toners and see if it suits me, since I need to reduce pore size a lot. Thanks for the nice review. 🙂 🙂

    1. right sabrina, the formula is a bit strong, n stings my face too.. i really want to try the new formula too. i think clinique counters do give sample size bottles for 1 week usage 🙂
