Clinique Deep Comfort Hand and Cuticle Cream

A couple of months ago, I purchased a couple of products from Clinique and due to the bonus period going on, I got several travel-size product samples free to try, I i know! Yeayy!!! This 30 ml deep comfort hand cream is one of them. Its regular size is 75 ml which retails for 18$, that’s roughly Rs. 810.

What the Company Says:

Treat hands to 12-hour hydration, soothing comfort. Rich, restorative cream strengthens skin’s moisture barrier against environmental stressors. Conditions cuticle, nails.Even boosts skin’s ability to retain moisture-so hands look and feel smoother.use daily as needed.

My Experience with Clinique Deep Comfort Hand and Cuticle Cream:

Packaging:  It comes in a boring-looking tube packaging with a screw on lid, really, I prefer flip cap, good for lazy people like me 😛

2

Formula/Consistency:  The look, colour and consistency is ditto like Amul butter 😀 minus the grease. It gets absorbed very quickly into the skin. However, if I have to go wash my hands, it all washes off with water, leaving me wondering had it really gotten absorbed into my skin or was just sitting there on top of my skin attracting all the dirt and bacteria :tremble:

3

Doesn’t leave a greasy finish.

4

Fragrance:  The smell is extremely unpleasant, it smells like hospital to me :haanji:  Now, I understand Clinique products are fragrance free and that could be the real smell of the chemicals going into the tube, but its just unbearable. I fear eating with hands after applying this hand cream. It scares me to think what all chemicals must be entering my mouth, ditto with other hand creams, hence I only apply them at night.

Coming to its pros and cons.

Pros:

• Gets absorbed quickly, non greasy.
• Gives temporary relief from dryness of hands.
• Can I say its a little less expensive than other Clinique products, which are usualy priced above thousand rupees?

Cons:

*Horrible smell.
*Gives only temporary relief, doesn’t make my skin soft or smooth nor improves the skin softness or texture overtime.
*Doesn’t do much for the cuticles.
*Suitable mostly for night time use as in the daytime, it would easily get washed off when you wash your hands even with plain water/
*Its too light, may not suit hands with very dry skin at all.

Overall Thought:

Its a very ordinary hand cream, nothing too great about it. I mean my regular St. Ives body moisturiser (read review here ) softens my hands and cuticles much better than this cream and even smoothes and improves skin texture over time and for extra hard cuticles, my Elizabeth Arden 8-hour cream does an excellent job (read review here).  This one gives only temporary relief and it should have been heavy duty as its a hand cream, rather its way too light. Quite a dud from Clinique, more so because you would expect sooo much more from a Clinique product.

Would I repurchase?

Nope, its too ordinary, err, less than ordinary actually.

Would I Recommend to Others?

No not at all, there are ton of hand creams out there, you don’t need a Clinique one.
