Clinique Makeup Brush Cleanser Review

Price: $16 for 236ml
Product Description:
Thoroughly cleanses and removes makeup residue build-up. Keeps brush hairs in optimal condition. Monthly cleansing is recommended to ensure the highest level of hygiene, help brushes last longer.
How to Use:
1. Pump one spray to each side of makeup brush.
2. Gently tissue off makeup residue.
3. Let air dry for 1-2 minutes before using a brush.
Packaging:
This cleanser comes packaged in a transparent bottle with a metallic screw on cap with a spray and pump. This bottle also has an outer cap which closes firmly. The bottle, spray, pump and cap are made with good quality plastic. The screw on cap with a spray can be opened and closed to pour the liquid, in case you opt not to use the spray. I personally find the packaging quite bulky to carry in suitcases or backpacks for outstation trips. Secondly, you’re not advised to carry such inflammable liquids along even if the packaging is sturdy and the cap closes firmly.

My Experience with Clinique Makeup Brush Cleanser:

I always cleanse my brushes on a dry tissue after each use. However, for hygiene purpose, I cleanse my brushes with cleansing wipes every week or at least once in two weeks and even on a daily basis (if required). Before I got this Clinique makeup brush cleanser, I used to cleanse my brushes with a mild shampoo every three months and sometimes twice a year. Too bad! I know but, with time, I have realised the necessity of regular and deep cleansing. Clinique makeup brush cleanser is a pink coloured liquid, which can be sprayed directly on the brushes. The number of sprays required varies from brush to brush, depending on the size and the density of the brush, and the makeup stuck to the brush.

Clinique Makeup Brush Cleanser

This makeup brush cleanser has an alcohol content, which definitely is a good sanitizer for my brushes, but not for my sensitive skin. I have to thoroughly rinse the brushes under running tap water so that no residue of the brush cleanser remains on the brushes. For better results and to give a thorough cleansing to my brushes, I first place the brush flat, then spray the liquid on both sides of the brush and then wipe off the product with a wipe. After this, I wash the brush under running tap water, wipe it clean and then dry on a clean towel napkin. I allow the brush(es) to dry nicely before putting it back in my stash.

Ever since I have got this Clinique cleanser, I have become inclined towards cleaning my makeup brushes at least once a month. I have used this makeup brush cleanser on all of my brushes – synthetic hair brushes and natural hair brushes. All my brushes have maintained their texture and shape. One or two brushes made of natural hair have shed a hair or two, but that can be overlooked. I have also used this cleanser to cleanse my compact sponges and they look very clean, fresh and almost like new. However, I wash the sponges directly under running tap water. Clinique makeup brush gives optimal cleaning and a new look to all my brushes and is much more sanitising than a mild shampoo. Also, there is no wastage of the product. You can limit the number of sprays if required.

Clinique Makeup Brush Cleanser Packaging

Also, there is no need of cleansing all the brushes together. I can cleanse a single brush at one time without any unnecessary wastage of the product or ten brushes at a go. There is also an option of opening the screw on spray cap, in case you want to pour the cleanser in one bowl and cleanse all the brushes in one go. The quantity is good enough to last six months to a year easily. This could vary, depending on the number of brushes you own. Still, the packaging is too bulky and risky to carry in a backpack.

Pros of Clinique Makeup Brush Cleanser:

• Thoroughly cleanses the brushes
• Keeps brush hairs in optimal condition
• Sanitises the brushes and ensures hygiene
• Gives a new and fresh look to my brushes
• No product wastage
• You can clean as many brushes as you want in one go
• Packaging can be opened to pour the liquid out

Cons of Clinique Makeup Brush Cleanser:

• Packaging is bulky and not travel-friendly
• Has alcohol
