Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask Review

Clinique+Moisture+Surge+Overnight+Mask+Review

I had mentioned about a certain Clinique product giving me acne – well, this is the one – Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask.  This is an overnight mask from the “Moisture Surge” range.  I had found the concept of overnight mask quite interesting, so picked this one up.

Product Description:

Luxurious nighttime ritual helps deeply hydrate and restore a protective moisture barrier.  Creamy, oil free mask helps replenish moisture lost during the night and build reserves for tomorrow.  Calms and comforts.  Skin awakens plumped, supple, luminous.  Use nightly or as needed, after your regimen.  Smooth generously and evenly over face. Gently massage until absorbed.  For all skin types.

My Take on Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask:

This is a completely fragrant-free mask which is creamy in texture and has a peach tint.  When smoothed on to the face, it spreads easily leaving a greasy texture.  Since this is a cream mask, it won’t dry out after some time.  The other products in this “Moisture Surge” range, i.e., Extended Thirst Relief, Intense Fortifying Hydrator, Face Spray Thirsty Skin Relief, are for dry to very dry skin, but this particular mask is for all skin types.  I used this mask exactly two times overnight at different times of the month.  Both the times, I woke up with a few bumps on my face. Yes, if kept overnight on oily and acne-prone skin, it would cause zits and pimples.

I read through the ingredients and saw mango seed butter algae extract, olive fruit extract, wheat bran extract, murmuru seed butter, oryzanol; so many butters and seed extracts, I knew who the culprit was!

Moisture Surge Overnight Mask 6

For dry skin, I am sure it will be great with all that extra moisture.  On the rest of the face, where I didn’t get bumps, I had well hydrated, supple skin.

Moisture Surge Overnight Mask 7

After the zit experience keeping this mask overnight, I tried using it during the daytime and though I didn’t see any great results, I did not get pimples either.  I think I am going to use it during the winters and will skip using it during these summer months.  Oily and acne-prone skin should definitely give this mask a miss because all that extra moisture is going to cause havoc on your face.  This might work very well on combination and dry skin.

Summing up the pros and cons of this mask:

Pros of Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask:

  • A high moisture mask with mango seed butter algae extract, olive fruit extract, wheat bran extract, murmuru seed butter, oryzanol.
  • Might be good for combination and dry skin.
  • 100% allergy tested and fragrance free.

Cons of Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask:

  • Acne-prone, very oily, and sensitive skin beware, if kept overnight, it causes acne.
  • Not good for use during summer months.
  • No great results if used during the day time.

Will I Repurchase Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask?

No, I don’t think this product with so many butter extracts is good for my skin.  I will finish this mask in winters.

Do I Recommend Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask?

Acne prone and oily skin, skip this!

Is There any Comparable Product I Would Have Liked To Pick Next?

I would like to pick Lancome Hydra Intense Hydrating Gel Mask.

  1. I have the moisture surge cream and I used it in winter on my very very dry skin. Worked well for me but like you said, totally unsuitable for oily skin.
I don’t use this now in summer because it’s so heavy.

  2. i also got this particular product from an aunt…i also got pimples as my skin is acne-prone.. 🙁
its still lying in my cupboard..god knows what to do with that..
