Clinique Quickliner for Eyes, in 07 Really Black Review

by Disha D

Hello IMBBians!

I have been religiously following IMBB since the past year ever since I came across it. So, here I am making my debut on IMBB *jumps in joy*. My first review will be on Clinique Quickliner for eyes, in 07 really black.

My sister’s friend offered to get us stuff from the United States, so we did a little haul of some cosmetics and chocolates of course. 😉 Stuff there is absolutely mesmerizing and I believe there’s not even a quarter of it in India, in terms of quality and variety. We ran out of Eyeconics and Colossals so we decided to give them a break and hit out for the others. Kajals and eyeliners are a must have for me and I can barely step out without a swipe or two. Let’s see how this one fared for me.

Product Description:

Price: US $8.90(sale)

Quantity: 0.3g/ 0.01oz

Product claims (from the website):
Automatic eyeliner pencil twists up. Glides on. Smudges to a smooth blur of colour with the convenient smudge tool on the opposite end. Needs no sharpening. Silky formula is always ready to line and define with ease. Stays on all day. Ophthalmologist tested.

My take on Clinique Quickliner for Eyes, in 07 Really Black.

I got an unboxed version of the product, so I could not find any ingredients list which I usually reach out for. The packaging is sleek and classy, comes in a twist up form which is always convenient in all terms. The tube is silver color and there is a black band on one end which makes it easy to locate among the stash, if u have similar products in different shades. The other end has a smudger which comes with a cap, easy to create a smoky eye. The smudger is quite soft, the liner can be smudged to give a soft look.

My heart was shattered when the product refused to come up despite twisting. A little part finally showed up and when I tried to twist it back, it refused to go back and I ended up breaking it. 🙁 Maybe it’s a defective piece that I was rather unlucky to bump into. 🙁

My love-hate relation with this eyeliner began and continued to disappoint me with its cons. The intensity of black is very disappointing and it hardly shows up in a single swipe. It does not show up on my waterline where I prefer to wear it most times. It also has tiny shimmer particles which does not bother me, but makes it gritty while swiping. Was shimmer really needed Clinique? What were you thinking? It gives a matte finish and does not glide smoothly on the eyelids, forget the waterline. Staying power is good, it stays put for about 4-5 hours on the lash line after which it starts to fade. It is smudge-proof and water-proof. On the waterline it lasts about an hour. It needs to be removed with a makeup remover or the good old coconut oil.

I think this product is a complete miss for me, as it did not score my expectations. Only thing I can do is use the smudger to create a soft smokey look. I was very highly expecting from this brand, but it failed to impress me. Sorry Clinique! Maybe I should have stuck to the good old Colossals after all, than splurging on this. 🙁 Now I really don’t know what to do of this, since the product refuses to twist up. There’s no way I can get a replacement.

Pro’s of Clinique Quickliner for Eyes, in 07 Really Black:

  • Smudger can be used to create a soft look.
  • Does not feel heavy on the eyes.
  • Safe for sensitive eyes.

  • Water-proof and smudge proof.

Con’s of Clinique Quickliner for Eyes, in 07 Really Black:

  • My biggest con was the faulty packaging.
  • Intensity of black is disappointing.
  • Tugs during application.
  • Slightly hard texture.
  • Pricey.

Would I recommend Clinique Quickliner for Eyes, in 07 Really Black?

  1. Welcome to IMBB Disha, lovvvvvvvvved your review 🙂 Clinique is my favorite brand, but this product is surely a disappointment 🙁

  2. I think the quickliners are non-retractable, by design, just verify that.
It’s quite a nuisance but be careful about twisting it up too much as it won’t get back in the tube later.

  3. Hey Disha :D..you could probably try the quickliner intense ebony..I haven’t seen a kajal blacker than that *i swear*..and I think the product’s set a bit inside and so when its twisted it doesn’t come up that fast and its also non retractable.

  4. Thank you Jomol di 🙂
Thanks Arpita, will give the Intense ones a try 🙂
I was unaware that the liners were non-retractable :-/ But the problem is it doesn’t twist up 🙁 Afraid to lose more of it by trying.
