How to Use:
• Line the eye using long strokes to achieve a defined eye.
• Use sponge tip if “smoky” look is required.
Packaging:
Comes packaged in a dual sided metal coloured pencil, with eyeliner on one side and a unique sponge tip on the other end for smudging. Both sides have caps, metallic coloured cap for the eyeliner and a plastic cap for the sponge tip. There is a smoky brown coloured band, near the sponge tip, so you can easily pick if you happen to have more than one shade in your vanity. This pencil comes packaged in a light floral cardboard box. Product name and other details are mentioned on the packaging. Both caps close firmly and are travel friendly.
My Experience with Clinique Smoky Brown Quickliner for Eyes:
As mentioned earlier, using eye liner on my upper lid is a new concept to me. I have used kohl or kajal pencils for lining my waterline or near my lower lash line. To apply liner on the upper lid is indeed a task for me. I am practicing and getting acquainted to my Jane Iredale Mystikol Amethyst and the more I use, the more confident I feel. This is my second eyeliner and I opted for Smoky Brown quickliner for eyes from my favourite brand, Clinique. Smoky Brown is a greyish brown colour and belongs to the tawny colour group.
The texture is creamy and very soft. It glides on easily and smoothly and it is nicely pigmented. However, several swipes are required to get the desired effect on my upper eyelids. The lasting power for this shade is six hours, after which it lightens and gradually fades away. To make this shade long lasting, I have to first apply a powder eyeliner of a similar shade on my upper eyelid and then it lasts for hours. The sponge tip helps in spreading/smudging the liner. However this needs to be done before the eyeliner settles down. It does not spread or smudge or transfer after it settles down. This shade can be used for regular wear, throughout the year.
For special occasions and to make it long lasting, a powder eyeliner of similar shade needs to be applied as a base on the upper lid. This shade does not show up on my water line. The lasting power and the colour payoff is not as claimed. Several swipes are required to get the desired effect. Smoky Brown, as named, is a perfect greyish brown and gives a smoky effect to my eyes. The pencil is self-propelling, automatic and non-retractable. Travel friendly packaging. No mess, no sharpening, no breaking of tips. Does not cause any irritation to my sensitive eyes, even when applied near the lower lash and on the water line.
