Clinique Superprimer – Colour Corrects Discolourations Review

Hi Everyone,

Just a few hours and we would have a Happy New Year!!!! I am so excited about 2014 – it looks bright 🙂  Since I am politically inclined – its also the election year!  To end this year on a very good note, I am reviewing today a face primer from Clinique’s Superprimer range.  They have actually 6 primers in this range – Universal Face Primer, Colour Corrects Dullness, Colour Corrects Redness, Colour Corrects Sallowness, Colour Corrects Discolourations, and Colour Corrects Dullness in Deeper Skins.  At the Clinique counter, I was in a dilemma about which one to pick first and after much deliberation (yes, after all, I was doing makeup shopping), I chose Colour Corrects Discolourations since I have uneven skin tone.  Here’s a detailed review of this particular primer.

Product Description:

Allergy tested, 100% fragrance free.  Lightweight, oil-free primer, helps colour correct discolourations, and blemish marks for a bright even-toned start.  Smooths skin’s texture, preps for makeup application and wear.  Colour glides on evenly, stays true.

My Take on Clinique Superprimer – Colour Corrects Discolourations:

I was too happy to get my hands on Clinique’s superprimer – first of all because it is 100% allergy tested and then coming from Clinique, there are lesser chances of it giving me acne.  The third reason being that it claimed to colour correct discolourations.  This primer comes in a 30 ml tube.  The primer is light peachy in colour and there’s just one shade available.  Actually, this primer does not need to be matched with one’s skin tone because it does not provide any coverage, will tell you what it really does.

The texture of the primer is smooth and silky, from a creamy form – it glides on the face to a smooth, powdery, silky consistency.  It does not give any coverage to any blemishes or scars.  As an immediate effect, I get a very bright, smooth, and matte skin tone.  I use it after thoroughly cleansing my skin followed by toning, and then moisturizing. Actually, if you have dry skin, do not skip the moisturizer at all. Only a bit is required to cover the entire face and it immediately brightens up my face.  Sometimes, I just skip the tinted moisturizer/foundation and follow it up with loose powder.  It gives me a matte look for hours together.  I can’t wait to try it in summers when I struggle to get a matte face and this might be superbly helpful at that time.

Also, foundation smoothly glides on top of this primer and makeup stays for long, and that I believe is because of the matte effect it provides.  I have used it with Lotus Herbals Purestay Foundation and Clinique Superbalanced Liquid Foundation, and it works well with both of them.

This product is oil free and has never broken me out.  I checked out the ingredients list, there are no parabens listed, but there are a whole lot of -cones (methicone, dimethicone, etc.), but I am not really bothered – my wishes to get a matte face has come true 🙂

As for the “colour corrects discolourations” claim, I don’t see much difference, I have used it for a month now, but neither does it provide any coverage, nor does it improve skin tone with regular use, but all said and done, its a great primer to have.  I am sticking on to it and want to try all the other primers from this range, for sure 🙂

Summing up the pros and cons:

Pros of Clinique Superprimer – Colour Corrects Discolourations:

  • A superb primer that gives a bright, smooth, and matte skin tone.
  • 100% allergy tested and fragrance free.
  • Glides smoothly on the face.
  • Foundation also glides smoothly when the primer is applied beneath.
  • Helps makeup last longer.
  • Superb primer for oily skin, gives a matte look (matte look lovers – this is for you).

Cons of Clinique Superprimer – Colour Corrects Discolourations:

  • Does not colour correct discolourations.
  • Contains dimethicone and methicone.

Would I Repurchase Clinique Superprimer – Colour Corrects Discolourations?
