I am going to review today a gel cleanser/face wash from Clinique which has quite the potential to become anyone’s HG face wash, but falls short of it by some measure. Since its a gel cleanser/face wash, it is mentioned that it would be suitable for oilier skins, but I think there is no categorization needed for this particular product.
For oilier skins. Soothing, cooling, concentrated gel-foam cleanser for oily skin. Fast, easy take-off for clinging makeups.
How To Use:
Lather a small amount on wet palms. Massage onto wet face. Rinse. Follow with Clinique’s 3-Step Skin Care.
Rs. 1350 for 150 ml.
My Take on Clinique Wash Away Gel Cleanser:
Clinique’s Wash Away Gel Cleanser is a blue gel product that’s 100% allergy tested and fragrance free (not exactly!). I would have loved if this product had some sort of artificial fragrance, maybe fruity or tangy, but this one is strongly pungent. I was taken aback by how odd it smelled. This cleanser gel can be used as a face wash, it foams up nicely upon contact with water. This contains aloe vera extract and there’s no stinging, yay! Though its soothing on the skin, the effect is not menthol kind. I had a little difficulty in rinsing it off the face, required lots of water (those with high levels of TDS in their water would find it tougher to get rid of the cleanser). This cleanser clears all oil and grime nicely without leaving any kind of residue or film on the face, but I feel following the CTM routine is a must after using the cleanser, do not feel its that effective against waterproof makeup. It does not clear away dead cells, it just cleanses the face thoroughly.
It does not rip the skin off all moisture in the name of deep cleansing of oily skin. You know how some cleansers make the skin stretchy leaving dry patches on the face, well, this does not. Since its not drying at all, this one is equally good for combination and dry skins. Rs. 1350 seems to be a lot to pay for 150 ml of product, but only a little is required each time, so it would last for quite some time. For sensitive skin, this would be great. Although, Clinique’s 3-Step Skin Care system is prescribed after this, any other toner or moisturizer can be used. I am mighty impressed with this product and feel its good for all skin types, but at the same time, the strong pungent scent bothers me, and I feel they should have added a bit of artificial fragrance to this product. Otherwise, this is such a good cleanser to have.
Pros of Clinique Wash Away Gel Cleanser:
- A good foaming cleanser/face wash for all skin types.
- 100% allergy tested.
- Cleans away oil, grime and makeup (non-waterproof) effectively.
- Foams up well upon contact with water.

Cons of Clinique Wash Away Gel Cleanser:
- The strong pungent smell is a mighty put off.
- CTM routine is a must after using this cleanser.
- I feel its not that effective against waterproof makeup.
- Pricey *headbang*
