Coastal Scents 10 Blush Palette Review
Hello Ladies!
Blushes are honestly a fairly recent area of interest for me. I was more concerned about my eye makeup, foundation and lipstick. It was this palette that really got me into it. When I started using different colors depending on the rest of the makeup, I was amazed to see the HUGE difference a good or in some cases bad blush makes. It really does tie the whole look together. I got this palette when it was on a 50% discount and I am absolutely glad that I did purchase this, and would not have regretted paying even the full price for this!

It comes packed in a black matte case, very typical of Coastal Scents products. It is very sturdy and very no nonsense. I also like that it has the ingredients mentioned on the back. The pots are glued to the case, so cannot be removed easily if in case you wanted to take one particular, you need to touch up on and store it in another travel friendly kit. Such palettes can always be depotted through heat or mechanical procedures though.
The size of each color can be seen here as compared to a standard Coastal Scent Hot Pot (or a MAC eyeshadow is the same size as a CS Hot Pot).
As mentioned in the description, it comes in different colors and finishes. Colors range from pinks, corals, orange, mauve, skin color or highlighters and bronzers. I do not see any color that would be a good bronzer here, especially for Indian skin colors. It does have one or two gorgeous highlighters depending on your skin tone.
The staying power of each shade is different, but I have no major complaints with any of them. The darker the shade, obviously the longer it stays on. If I have foundation, I always apply blush before the compact/powder as the blush adheres to foundation well and stays on longer.
I have marked the numbers on an image above and the following swatches are corresponding to that.
#1:
When swatched it looks like a dull brown with a mauve-y tint to it, but when blended it barely shows up, just gives a little sheen to the skin. It can be used as a very sheer highlighter.
#2:
I love this color! It is a bright fuschia pink that just brightens up the face instantly. It can be blended out for a lighter effect or applied heavily for a full-on dolly pink look.
#3:
This is a very soft pink, it has to be applied very heavily for it to show up but it is a good color if you want the faintest of color to your cheeks.
#4:
This is my favourite highlighter color in this palette. It looks amazing on the skin and I love that it has no shimmer or glitter in it; it is just a color that gives a very natural glow to the skin. It is my go-to highlighter these days for a party look. Even a touch of this gives a good glow, if used a lot it tends to look very orange-y. So, a light hand is required.
#5:
I use this blush pretty much every day, or whenever I want a completely matte soft look. It is a light pink and it is totally matte and I do prefer my blushes to be matte.
#6:
This is another beautiful color. It is a muavey pink. It looks beautiful with dark smokey eyes, adds just the required color and brightness to the face without being very loud.
#7:
This is a pretty much useless color for me in terms of cheeks. It does not show up whatsoever. It is not shimmery or “glow-y” so I don’t think anyone can look at this as a highlighter of any sort. I have used this on my eyes though, works as a good color to blend out harsh lines.
#8:
Another pink, this is not as matte as #5 so I use this mostly for when I want a touch of glow to my skin. It is one of the most usable colors on this palette.
#9:
A coral shade. This is one of the nicest colors I have ever used on my face. I never thought I would be comfortable using any color apart from pink on my cheeks, until I met Mr. #9 here! I love how this looks, it is not matte but not too shimmery. It adds a wonderful glow and I LOVE using this. I’m going to pretty much use it all up in the upcoming summer!
#10:
Honestly, this color intimidates me. I wish it were completely matte, I would have been able to use it as a bronzer. I will never use a non-matte bronzer on my face. If I want a very dark cheek, I use this paired with a pink, but the blending out takes up a lot of effort. When it is sheered out, it does look good but if not, it looks very unnatural. I do not hate it, but I’m yet to get comfortable with this color.
It will be difficult to list generalised pros and cons for this product as each shade has its own nuances to it, but broadly speaking there are a few points I can mention:
Pros of Coastal Scents 10 Blush Palette:
- Very inexpensive considering the super quality of the shades.
- 10 shades in 1 palette! You will surely find something you love.
- A good mix of shades – pinks, corals, mauves, etc.
- A good mix of finishes – matte, satin, shimmer.
- Has 1-2 very good highlighter shades.
- The shimmery colors have a very fine shimmer, no chunky glittery specks.
- Good amount of product for each color.
- Stays on pretty well.
- The packaging is sleek and slim.
- Discounted on most days on the official website, with international shipping.
Cons of Coastal Scents 10 Blush Palette:
- Available only online.
- Not all shades will be useful for everyone (I use the “dud” shades on my eyes but not everyone will be comfortable using a cheek product on the eyes).
- They mention that it has bronzer, I don’t see a single color that I can use as a bronzer.
IMBB Rating:
4/5, I’d have given it a full rating if it had a few bronzers, especially when they mention it has such shades. Also, what is up with the matte very light skin colors in a cheek palette? If they had more shimmer to them, at least they could be used as highlighters.
Do I Recommend Coastal Scents 10 Blush Palette?
All said and done, I highly recommend this palette to those of you who are starting out with cheek colors and you want to decide what colors suit you, how to use them, how to blend them out, etc. It is very good as a palette that will encourage you to experiment with colors.
Will I Repurchase Coastal Scents 10 Blush Palette?
I will first try to find dupes from other more locally available brands for the colors I absolutely love and I am sure I will find the dupes. In case I do not find dupes, I would gladly repurchase this.
I give a special thanks to my mom who was my hand model for the images here, the things our mothers do for us! *touchwood*
I hope this helped you and until next time, Happy Makeuping!
