Coastal Scents Brushes Review

Coastal Scents Brushes- Review

Hi all IMBB beauties!!! :-*

I never had decent makeup brushes and never had access to high end stores to get myself some. So I did what I should: I ordered them online. You can see my haul post of these brushes here. There you can find the costs and shipping charges.

So once again these are the brushes I got from Coastal Scents and a leatherine case to hold all of them. (Not in specific order)

All brushes

1. Chisel Fluff/Pointed Crease Duet
2. Sable Contour Brush
3. Chisel Detail Mini Brush
4. Chisel Angle Fluff Shadow Brush
5. Divine Taklon Liner
6. Destiny Duo Fiber Stippling Brush
7. Angle Blush Brush
8. Black & Hot Pink Angled Kabuki
9. Zipper Makeup Case Leatherine 10 Slot
I have been using these brushes for more than 6-7 weeks and I felt it’s the right time to review these.

Let’s get on with the review then.

1. Chisel Fluff/Pointed Crease Duet:
This is a double ended brush with a Fluffy blending brush at one end and pointed pencil like brush at the other. Both the brushes are made up of sable hair.

Chisel fluff and pointed crease duet
My take:
This is a very useful brush. Being double-ended, it can be used efficiently.

I use the fluffy end to blend colours together. It is soft and very efficient.

Chisel fluff and pointed crease duet

The pointed crease brush is the one I use most. It is useful to draw outer corner with e/s which I then fill up with the fluffy end. You can also draw a thin line a shadow with this on the lower lash line. You can define crease subtly with the pointed brush, too.

Both these brushes are extremely soft and glide smoothly on the lids. They deliver what they promise.

The only con I find with this is storage. Being double ended it’s impossible to store it in the leatherine case without bending the bristles.

2. Sable Contour Brush:
This one is also made up of sable hair. It is semi-firm.

round contour brush

My take:
It’s again a very versatile brush. I can use it to smudge liners, define crease, blend colours, define outer corners and highlight the brow bone. Its bristles are soft, perfectly rounded and tapered.

round contour brush

It’s a little too big for smudging on the lower lash line, but I love it for all the other uses it can be put to. I find absolutely nothing to complain about this.

3. Chisel Detail Mini Brush:
My take:
I only got this brush because it was $0.99 at that time. But again it turned out to be quite versatile.

Mini detail brush

The brush is miniscule, but I have found a lot of uses for it. I use it as lip liner and lip filler, to highlight the inner corners of the eyes, to correct mistakes while lining my eyes and to apply concealer on spots and blemishes. I have also tried to use it as eyebrow filler.

Mini detail brush

It’s a very small yet soft brush. It cleans very easily. I love this brush.

4. Chisel Angle Fluff Shadow Brush:
This is a goat and pony hair brush. It’s very soft and picks up colour beautifully.

Angled fluffy brushMy take:
I love the angled design as it fits the contours of the eye well, and I get more control.

Angled fluffy brush

This is PERFECT for highlighting the brow bone because of the angled design. It’s fluffy enough to double up as a blending brush.

5. Divine Taklon Liner:
It’s a synthetic Taklon fibre angled liner brush.
Angled liner brush
My take:
I love this for two main reasons: It’s very firm, which helps in drawing a neat and clean line. At the same time, it’s soft and doesn’t pull or irritate the delicate skin.

Angled liner brush

It glides effortlessly on the eye. It is rather small than the other angled brushes I have seen, which is responsible for the fact that it can draw a very fine line. It’s also capable of winging out the liner and applying liner on the lower lash line. I have to clean this after every use. I love this brush as being synthetic it’s very easy to clean.

6. Destiny Duo Fiber Stippling Brush:
My take:
I can’t begin to tell you how I love this brush. I never though I would need a brush for applying foundation ever. I believed that foundation applies best with fingers. Then one fine day I applied foundation with this brush, and I have never used my fingers on my face again. It’s soooooo soft!!!! And it blends foundation unbelievably well. It gives me that glowy, air-brushed look. I never feel any cakiness now. I always get the perfect coverage.

Duo fibre stippling brush

This brush has black goat hair and the white fibres are synthetic. The mix is perfectly semi-firm. The fibres clean up in a jiffy. It doesn’t bleed/stain/drink up my foundation. It hardly sheds any hair and it’s totally worth its cost.

7. Angle Blush Brush:
This is a Sable hair brush. This one’s again one of the softest of the lot.

Angled blush brush

My take:
I love this brush the least of all of them though, for more than one reason. It sheds a lot after every wash.
The bristles though soft are really scattered, so the colour application is not even.

Angled blush brush

I have to blend and blend to get the colour on my cheeks. It picks up too much colour and gets stained. So I definitely cannot use this brush to layer one colour on top of other. I have to use two brushes for the same. I am too lazy to do that. 🙁 Also, it’s very difficult to get those stains off.

8. Black & Hot Pink Angled Kabuki:
My take:
I can write a 1000 words essay on this brush. One cannot put its gorgeousness into words!!! It’s sexy, sophisticated and smooth. I want to become this brush. It’s almost like my friend.

Kabuki

It does everything!!! It applies powders like a dream. It blends everything together. It gives me that seamless look, where the foundation, concealer, blush and bronzer just fit together perfectly. It takes off the excess foundation, it blots the oiliness on my nose and it just comforts me. My makeup is incomplete without this. And it’s beyond soft. It’s velvet.

9. Zipper Makeup Case Leatherine 10 Slot:
My take:
I like this case. It holds ALL my brushes.

All brushes in case

It retains the shape of my kabuki brushes. And it is very lightweight and compact to carry around.

Case closed

Here are some positive things about these brushes in common:

1. All of these are extremely soft. There is not a single scratchy brush.
2. All of them pick up colour very well.
3. None of them sheds (except the Angled blush brush).
4. None of them bleeds or gets stained (Again except the Angled blush brush).
5. All of them have strong, long and shiny handles.
6. They are all very easy to clean. Just a dab of baby shampoo in lukewarm water gets them all squeaky clean.
7. And the best thing is: They are very, very well-priced and the shipping is very reasonable and fast.

Except for the Angled blush brush I recommend all of them highly. I will repurchase these if I need to. And I already have some of their new brushes on my wishlist.

If you are looking for really good quality brushes without emptying your bank account, these are definitely for you. These are also great for beginners to practice and perfect brush strokes.

My rating: :-* :-* :-* :-* + 0.5 (-0.5 for the angled blush brush).

Hope you liked the review.
Lots of love
Mrunmayee

n whr r u… i need to knw dat iced tea bnane ki recipe !!!!

    1. :handshake: :handshake: :handshake: :handshake: :handshake: :handshake: :handshake: Noopur!!!

I am toh shopping all over the town re!!!

      Here’s the recipe:

Take a cup of water. Warm it and add green tea to it. Let it simmer on low heat for about 5-6 min. Boiling destroys the anti oxidants. So keep the heat low. Filter it. Add a squeeze of lemon and sugar/honey/sugar free to it. Drink it hot or chuck in the fridge. Or directly add ice and shake. Done!!!

  4. I’ve been meaning to order coastal scents brushes for a while now but for some reason never did. This gives me reason enough.Vaise I’ve heard that these brushes shed a lot.It is true?Love the cute kabooki. How fast is their shipping?

    1. The CS brushes do not shed at all. Except for the angle blush brush. They have othe blush brushes which might be good.

Otherwise the quality is awessome. Moreover, unlike many online shops, the description on the CS website is very accurate. Shipping should take 10 days max.

      i highly recommend these brushes.

    1. Yeah, they do!!! And you get almost-as-good-as-MAC/Sigma quality brushes at like 1/10 th of the cost!!!

  5. Great buy Mrun………….I want a leather brush pouch like that…………and you want to become the kabuki kya….then I will happily give you to my son to play :happydance: :happydance: :happydance: :happydance: :happydance: :happydance: :happydance:

    1. Thanks Jomol!! The leather pouch is very good. But I’ll suggest you try the roll-up leatherine case. It looks more compact than this.

And if i become this brush, I assure you, you will play with me more than Aarohan!! :yelo: :yelo: :yelo:

  6. The Kabuki is chooooooo cute…  I love CS ke brushes…they r so awesome and soft na?? And they dont shed also :shy: :shy: ..I like the stippling brush too, lekin I dunno how to use one so.. :(( :(( :((

    1. They have awessome brushes Zara!!! Rati has a tutorial video for using the stippling brush. :)) :)) But I now want the flat top buffer one.. 😐 😐

      1. Oh! Tute hai kya? M gona go watch it as soon as I get home..Its blocked at work so, :-/ :-/ Thanks for the heads up!

    1. Thanks Varshini. If you want to build a decent brush kit to practice, these are the best. These cost me with shipping and the case: Rs. 2000+!!!! :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

  7. Hee Hee… It is THE one brush I use every single day Ikku!!! It’s just awesssome!!!

  8. hey is the shipping/ payments stuff totally assured? i’m planning to order tons of stuff but i don’t want to fork over a bomb only to get nothng… i recently ordered stuff from the UK and had to pay 10k just in taxes and half the stuff was broken 🙁

    1. OMG Brinda 10 k ,thats too much awww..:(
better luck next time!!this is precisely what discourages me from tryinng online buying though after comin to IMBB,i have read positive reviews about online shopping too

      1. 🙁 yeah now am really scared to try again.. plus these customz guys can be ruthless when checking through the stuff… i’d ordered from this nice website and gotten gifts for friends and family and stuff and 50% of it was damaged :(( but everyone here’s had some great experiences, esp from CS so i think il try again :cute: i can’t resist that kabuki. i want to become it too 🙂

    2. WOW!!! That must have hurt!!

Well, as i didn’t order a lot of stuff, my shipping charges were low. Nothing was damaged and package was very securely wrapped. The octroi charges were collected from me which were around Rs, 200.

But I think, if you order the palettes or creamy products, nothing can be guaranteed. I mean, what can go wrong ith a bunch of light weigh brushes na??? SO I suggest you opt for the priority shipping, so that you’ll get your products faster and avoid damage. :))

      1. oh it sure did!
i went overboard shopping, i’ve always said online shopping is a bottomless pit for people like me? 😐 since i’m not forking the cash over right from my pocket, it feels like im not spending at all and then i just go crazy :woot: but this was too baad even for me…half the necklaces were chipped, some of the earrings had snapped into pieces, everything was all roughed up by the cool people at the checking and customs and on top of that they levied the tax.
i still feel SOOO bad 🙁
but these brushes are too fab to resist. i think im going to order in small bunches all through this year :X-P: 😛 :-*

    1. I do love these brushes Cali!! If you want to order a stippling brush, try the flat top buffer one instead. It’s same as Sigma F80!! And it would give a smoother finish na??

  9. M, mujge wo cutie pink brush chahiye    dunno when will i order somethingh form Costal scents next. :waiting: :waiting: Usme toh I am pakka including this kabuki. :jiggy2:

    1. Hee hee… You’ll love the Pink perfection one more.. It’s ALL Pink!!!

I want to order so much more stuff!!! I toh open the CS website everyday to check out their new new stuff!!! :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:
