Coastal Scents Interchangeable Palette 12 Piece and Hot Pot Caramel Ice Review

Just the other day while surfing the net for cosmetics in the office a male colleague asked me with quite a serious tone that how much will you shop if u were given a lakh to shop in one day. I instantly said that I could seriously spend that amount alone on shopping cosmetics forget about the rest of the stuff and that too in just a few hours. I just wish someday someone leaves me at the biggest Sephora and tells me ‘Go dear pick up any stuff you want without worrying how much it will cost and who will pay… just buy’. Ah!!!the DREAM. By the way we Pune gals are so lucky to have Sephora opening up in the city. I am dying to go there.

Well today I have brought to you a product from the brand called Coastal Scents, which was again brought to me on request by a friend travelling to India from US. It is ‘Coastal Scents Interchangeable Palette 12 pieces’ along with ‘Coastal Scents Eye Shadow Hot Pot – Caramel Ice’. The remaining eye shadow pots will be reviewed in parts in coming days.

Coastal Scents Interchangeable Palette 12 Piece Review

Claims:

‘Our 12 Piece Interchangeable Palettes are matte black and contain a full-sized mirror for convenience and quick on-the-go touch-ups. This palette also contains built in magnets that attract up to twelve of our finished Hot Pots or empty 26mm pans. The upper-right corner of each pan mold is scooped out for easy removal and replacement’.

These empty palettes come in various variants like (a) Interchangeable Palette: 4 piece (b) Interchangeable Palette: 28 piece (c) Custom Palette: 12 piece with clear lid (d) Custom Palette: 28 piece with clear lid and (e) Go pod for single eye shadow.

My Experience with Coastal Scents Interchangeable Palette 12 Piece:

The one that I am reviewing today is the Interchangeable Palette: 12 piece. It comes in a sleek matte black case with Coastal Scents written in silver on it. It has a very smooth texture. There are 12 magnetic eye shadow pot slots in it. It also has a mirror on the inner side of the case. The palette does open up to 180 degrees flat. It opens and shuts with a click. And hence, is not prone to opening automatically when travelling.

All the shadow pots perfectly stick to the base due to the magnets. As you can see every slot has a small hollow semicircle cut on the upper right side, which facilitates easy removal of the pots in order to change the ones finished or change the order in which they are kept. The palette is very travel friendly and because of the magnets the eye shadows do not move or mix with each other.
The company also explicitly mentions that MAC pans are the same size, however they will not magnetize to the palettes or Go Pods due to the magnet’s polarity.

The eye shadows come in a small sleek silver pot packed in a re-openable and non moveable hard plastic case. Every eye shadow pot has its name or number written on its base. Kiwi Green and Jewel Teal have already been reviewed before on IMBB. I will review the others in the upcoming posts.

A frosted, pale caramel hue with a shimmer finish. A 1-inch metal pan that contains a highly pigmented eye shadow for multiple applications. Each Coastal Scents Hot Pot™ fits snugly into one of the Go Pod, 4 Piece, 12 Piece, and 28 Piece Interchangeable Palettes. These custom palettes contain magnets in a soft foam padding which attract the metal pan of the Hot Pot™. This allows you to completely customize your palette to create any look by simply adding interchangeable Hot Pots™ from the vast collection of shades, hues, and finishes.

My Experience with Coastal Scents Hot Pot Caramel Ice:

This eye shadow comes in a 1 inch metal pan, 2.5 cm in diameter packed in a re-openable hard plastic case.

Caramel Ice is a beautiful and bright shade. It looks like pale caramel in the pan, but actually when applied it is more of a frosty silver tone. There are shimmer particles in it and has a shiny finish to it. The eye shadow is very soft in texture and smooth to apply on the lids. It blends very easily. Also, the pigmentation is really good. Only a single swipe is required to get the desired color. As you can see that there is not much difference in single and multiple swipes.

The staying power is really good. It does stay on the eyelids for around 6 hours without primer. But, I think it looks much brighter and stays even longer if applied with a primer. It does crease on oily lids and looks patchy on them too. This color can work wonders if combined with darker shades. I like using this shade at the inner corner of the eyes. It really opens up the eyes. Also, if the shimmer does not bother much, one can use this shade to highlight the brow bone. This is one of my favorites from the lot.

Would I recommend:

Coastal Scents Interchangeable Palette 12 Piece: Definitely yes. Coastal scents has some amazing eye shadow pots and these palettes are a great help to arrange them and also easy and flexible for travelling.

Coastal Scents Hot Pot Caramel Ice: Yes for sure. It’s a great deal for the price.

Would I repurchase:

Coastal Scents Interchangeable Palette 12 Piece: Yes I would as there are some more eye shadow pots on my list to buy and since this one is full I will definitely purchase more of these.

Coastal Scents Hot Pot Caramel Ice: Not in the immediate future as this would last long.
