Coastal Scents Mirage Eyeshadow Palette Review
Hello ladies,

I really wanted a palette to play with my eyes and create different styles, without spending too much money. It was then I came across the brand – Coastal Scents and when I checked their website for eye palettes, there was a huge sale going on and without any hesitation, I bought 2 palettes. So, let us get into the review.

$25 (I got this on sale for 12.5).

My Take on Coastal Scents Mirage Palette:
This palette comes in a black matte plastic case with 88 beautiful shades, two dual-tipped sponge applicators, (which I found useless) and a small mirror which can come in quite handy while travelling. The packing was perfect when it arrived, the case was covered in a bubble wrap and a beautiful outer cover and there is also a protective plastic film inside the palette.
The palette comes in a wide array of colours – there are pale whites, nudes beiges, pinks, earthy toned soft neutrals, soft and dark browns, deep greens, blues and purples, silver, greys, taupes and black. The size of these shadows are a bit bigger than Gems chocolate. All the shades are beautiful and I don’t think there can be a more variety of colours in a palette.
There are 4 types of finishes in this palette – pearl, matte, metallic and shimmer. There are 45 pearl , 22 mattes, 15 metallic and 6 shimmery shades. All the shades are very pigmented except for the black and certain matte shades. There are 8 rows and 11 columns. The 1st column consists of matte white, cream, sand and light peachy shades; 2nd column has pearl white, baby pink, medium creams and nude shades; 3rd column has light rose, sandy browns and beiges; 4th column has light, medium and dark oranges, brick shade and soft browns; 5th column includes amber, bronzes, browns and olive greens; 6th column contains rose gold, soft and dark chocolate browns; 7th column has cranberry, light browns, brick reds and dark rose; 8th column is mainly filled with soft and dark browns; 9th column has different intensities of greens; 10th column has deep and soft purples and taupes, and the last column has greys, silver, metallic aqua blue, deep blue and black. I have provided the swatches of all the shades column wise starting from the left and some EOTD’s also.
I am very happy with this palette, except for the black shade, which shows up as dark grey and very gritty in texture. The metallic shades are the most pigmented ones of this lot, followed by pearl and shimmery finishes and matte. There is not much fallout during application even though certain shades are a bit powdery. I have tried out most of the shades and certain neutral colours are a bit difficult to show up on your eyes, so it is best you apply a primer. Even otherwise, it is good to use a primer to bring out the intensity of the colour. It is a very good palettes for beginners to create variety of eye make up looks without spending a fortune.
Pros of Coastal Scents Mirage Palette:
- There are 88 colours in different finishes to create the perfect eye look.
- Almost all the shades are quite pigmented and easy to apply.
- There is not much fallout during application.
- Easily blendable shades.
- Mirror inside the palette is very useful for quick touch ups.
- The packaging is quite sturdy and travel friendly with bubble wrap and outer cover to protect from any kind of damages.
- Very cheap considering the wide array of colours in the palette.
Cons of Coastal Scents Mirage Palette:
- Contains talc and parabens.
- The black shade in this palette is very gritty and poorly pigmented.
- Sponge applicators provided are useless.
IMBB Rating:
4.5/5, I would recommend this palette to everyone who is interested in doing eye makeups.

I always get a little intimidated by palettes with so many gradients of neutrals – I imagine myself getting ready and then freeeeeeezing because I can’t tell which specific one is perfect for the situation.
But by the same thinking, so many neutrals! If I use my brain I can get a precision of colouring, it’s a perfectionist’s dream!
(And thanks for the lovely, lovely array of demo looks!)
Me too face this situation frequently, take more time selecting the shades than the whole process of doing the make up. I was solely tempted by the price, colours r pretty too. *haan ji*
Wooowwww Jotsna..awesome eye makeup…blending is just superb..do an eye makeup tutorial sometime *haan ji* 🙂 Nice review *thankyou*
