I had a lucky incident during my trip a few weeks ago. I read somewhere that Coastal Scents was launching a new eye shadow palette named Revaled 2.  I had heard a lot about Coastal Scents Revealed Palette – its excellent quality and how it was cheaper than some other brands. I had never tried any Coastal Scents product till then, and hence I was immediately intrigued. I had already read the IMBB post on Urban Decay Naked-3 Palette and liked it so much (the shades of the Naked 3 palette were mindblowing); but Urban Decay is costly, and I already have the Naked-1 palette with me.

So, I had almost put the Naked-3 palette out of my mind. A few weeks later, this new Revealed-2 palette was released.  I saw that this new palette had a lot of common colors with the Naked-3.  Also, as a part of their new launch, they had it on 50% discount for the first 48 hours only. Without much thought, I immediately ordered it. It reached my home a few days back, and I have been testing it out since then and now I feel I am ready to review this new Revealed 2 Eyeshadow Palette by Coastal Scents.

My Experience with Coastal Scents Revealed 2 Eyeshadow Palette:

The basic theme of this palette revolves around rosy to berry color eyeshadow shades; it has 20 shades in it which contains a combination of matte, shimmery and frosty shades. The palette contains 7 matte eyeshadow shades, while the remaining are metallic to shimmery and frosty.  The palette reached my home in a very well-packed condition. This palette is housed in a ver y slim beige color cardboard box. The palette itself is also made of cardboard with a magnetic closure (a bit like theBalm packaging).  Inside, the colors are protected by a plastic sheet and contain 2 rows of 10 colors each.  The quality of the packaging is nothing fancy or remarkable at all, though it is quite sturdy. It does not even have a mirror or a brush or any eye shadow primer potion (as are present in some other palettes). The colors also do not have any name or numbers unlike some other brands.

The matte colors are simply superb in quality.They are very soft (almost buttery), silky and smooth; and apply like a dream. The pigmentation is excellent; and there is absolutely no fall out from these shades. Since these are very soft, I found that applying these with a lighter hand would be the best.

The shimmery colors are also very soft and not gritty at all.  These also have excellent pigmentation (barring 1-2 shades), but a bit of fallout is there on application of a few shades.  These have a metallic finish on application; however, some of them turn a bit frosty.

From top to bottom – the first five shades are light neutral colors – excellent as highlighters.  The next five are “mauvier” and more pigmented colors.

The bottom row contains darker shades with the first five colors being excellent rose to plum colors, very good for all over lid application. The last five are the darkest, these are the transient colors which will give a full blown smoky eye effect.

Without a primer, these stay intact for 6-8 hours easily, though the lighter matte shades fade a bit (but only on closer inspection). The shimmery colors, though stay intact. With a primer, the staying power is simply superb; around 12 hours (that’s the maximum time I tried it out) easily without any creasing; after which I removed it with a remover. The best thing I found(unlike other shimmery eye shadows) is that the fading is even (not a case where the color fades and you are left with only shimmer).

The eye shadow palette is an excellent quality and budget-friendly option for people who do not wish to pay huge bucks, and for the beginners. It is a mix of both light and darker shades; hence you can easily go from a day time to evening look using the same palette only.You can use just one light shade for all all over lid color; or may choose the darker ones for a full-blown smoky eye effect. This one is a budget friendly option for everyone, and at this price (around 10 USD – now 20 USD) and quality, these are almost a steal. The only problem I find is the high shipping cost. However, you can club with your friends and order many Coastal Scents stuff together and the shipping charge would be the same and you could divide the shipping cost.

• Many of the shades are dupes of high-end brands.
• Quality is very good.
• Excellent pigmentation.
• Very minimal fall-out.
• Good combination of matte and shimmery shades.
• Lasts a long time, even without primer.

Cons of Coastal Scents Revealed 2 Eyeshadow Palette:

• Not available in India.
• Shipping cost to India is high.
• No names or numbers given to the shades.
• No mirror, brush or primer provided along with the palette.
• The shades are bit on the softer side (I would have liked them to be a bit more firm).

Yes; if you do not have similar shades in your kitty, or you do not own the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette yet, you might go in for this pocket-friendly version. However, the shipping rates are high, so better buy many products together, so that the shipping cost can be justified. You can create millions of looks out of this palette, so it will be an extremely good investment.
