Colobar Midnight Glitter 74 Nail Polish Review

Colobar Midnight Glitter 74 Nail Polish

Hello IMBB Beauties!

This is my first post on IMBB. Almost a year ago, while searching for some product reviews, I chanced upon this wonderful blog and have since been religiously following it, every single day! Though the articles are very informative and well written, I admit, I enjoy reading the comments section, even more!

Radhika and Jomol’s repartees are hilarious, keep it going gals!!!

Initially, I was a lip gloss and kajal girl. Thanks to all you gals out there who keep tempting me to try out different products, now it’s a completely different story, my makeup list keeps increasing by the day!!!

I recently did a mini haul based on IMBB recommendations and the product I will be reviewing here today is the Colorbar Nail Lacquer in Midnight Glitter (74).

This is what the bottle looks like:

You can see how much of it I have already used 😛

Colorbar has a huge selection of nail colours and choosing just 1 or 2 is near impossible. In fact, my friend and I went to the Colorbar counter at Beauty Centre in Mumbai to just check out the shades and I ended up buying 5!!!

About The Shade Midnight Glitter (74):

Midnight Glitter is a lovely dark teal shade with blue glitter. The glitter is not over the top though. The product comes in a square-shaped bottle. The quantity (9 ml) and consistency of the nail paint is good.

The handle is quite sturdy and black (unlike the other Colorbar nail paints which have a silver handle), not that it really matters ;). The brush is of a good quality. It allows for an even application and doesn’t streak.

The nail paint dries quickly. It stays on my nails for about 4-5 days without chipping. What I found a little irritating about this shade, was that when I tried taking it off with a nail paint remover, it left back some glitter on my nails, which just wouldn’t go off, no matter how hard I tried rubbing it off!!!

Another weird thing about this shade is that when you first apply a single coat, it is sheer. What you get, is a barely-there coat of greyish-teal with very visible blue glitter. It also applies somewhat patchy, not pretty at all. I have not tried layering this over any other nail paint. Maybe then, it would give a different effect.

This is what a single coat looks like:

You can see how patchy it turns out!

But if you apply 2-3 coats, it becomes opaque and is true to colour, a gorgeous dark teal.

This is after 2 coats:

Though it looks very glittery in the pics, it is actually a very subtle glitter. This is a shade that would look great for parties, especially at night (guess that’s why it is called Midnight Glitter : P), but I love this shade so much, that I keep reaching for it most of the time!

What I Liked About The Midnight Glitter Shade?

  • Gorgeous colour, especially for that party look.
  • Glitter is not over the top.
  • Brush is of a good quality.
  • Dries quickly.
  • Reasonably priced.
  • Good quantity.

What I Did Not Like About The Midnight Glitter Shade?

  • A single coat gives a very patchy application.
  • A little glitter stays back on the nails, even after vigorously rubbing it off with a nail paint remover.
  • Have to apply 2-3 coats to get a good colour payoff

Price:

Rs. 90 for 9 ml.

Would I Purchase It Again?

Of course YES!!! The 3 cons apart, I simply love this shade and keep wearing it over and over again!

IMBB Rating:

4/5.

I love this kind of steel-looking shades, they look great on Indian beauties anyway, because of the little frosted, contrasting finish. There are lots of shades in this colour-range in my BUDOIR :preen:
